“Beef for Shredded Meat $1.97/lb (Can someone clue me in as to what this is?! :)”
It is Flank steak and a real decent price on it too… Last week they had Beef Flap meat which is great for fajitas and stir fry’s.
Yes very serious. Falda means flank and deshebar is for shredding so it is flank for shredding.
It is usually around 5 to 6 dollars a lb in regular stores for flank steak.
I have never been to this store – my car doesn’t travel much out of my “territory” – but it sounds like they have good deals! I think I will try it, especially if Safeway and Kings employees go on strike. I don’t really want to cross the pickett lines, and I don’t like Walmart.
That flank steak is sounding pretty good!!!! I’ve never “shredded” beef. Do you mean cut up? How do you shred beef. Sounds like it would be really good for a stir fry.
Hey Kathy there good deals are mostly on produce and meats only. The rest of there stuff isn’t as good though sometimes you can find good prices on kitchen stuff and table wear.
To shred the beef you would need to cook it first usually braise or simmer while submerged in liquid until the meat is fall apart tender. Then you use 2 forks to shred the meat for dishes like enchiladas and tacos. I’ve never really considered using flank for shredding before since it is a more expensive meat now adays. But you can also slightly freeze the meat then cut across the grain and marinate for great fajitas or stir fry meat. Some people also just marinate and grill it. If you are grilling it don’t over cook it and be sure to cut across the grain too or you will have very chewy meat which nobody likes.
Are you serious?! I LOVE flank steak, but it’s so expensive I never buy it. As a matter of fact, I don’t even know what a good price is for it because I just know it’s expensive so I never even bother to look at it. Thanks, Michele!
