Back-to-school sales are starting, and if you’ve got a long list of things to buy for your kids, start buying now! We’ll usually have a month or so of great sales, but typically it will just be a few items a week that are on sale, so if you want to get the lowest prices, plan to buy a few items each week based on what’s on sale. If you can plan a little, you’ll definitely save money by doing that rather than going to WalMart at the last minute!
My kids aren’t school-age yet, but every year I keep thinking I’m going to stock up on crayons and whatnot, but I’m not motivated enough to get there soon enough for the “while-supplies-last” or Sunday only sales, so this year I might try to do some price-matching at WalMart. Does anyone have any experience with price-matching school supplies there, particularly store brand items?
Here’s a few deals that are going on this week: Staples has 8 ct. pencils for just a penny through the 15th (limit 2)! Bargain Briana has all the other deals there this week, including a scenario for how to use the $5 off $20 coupon that was in the ad today.

I’ve done price matching at Walmart with school supplies, and while they have been pretty good about it in the past, they do stick to exact item only match-ups. So you’re probably out of luck on store brand items.
Bargain Briana has some great scenarios! Since I only get the Sunday paper, I didn’t get the $5 off coupon today. BUT, I checked out Staples.com you can print the page of the ad with the cuopon and bring it into the store (I haven’t gone shopping yet, but the website says just hand your printout to the cashier at checkout).

Mardel is having a one day sale on Thursday, July 16th. All education, school supplies, home school and kids products will be 20% off. That’s a great deal for the home school products especially.
I cannot find the ad for the Staples $5 off $20…. the posting said in the paper today… can you clarify… was this the Gazette…. Monday? I also looked in Sunday but cannot find. Thank you for any help!
