We use Bestway Disposal for our trash service and have been very happy with them. A couple years ago we had a bunch of snow storms and all our neighbors with different trash companies had to wait almost a week for their trash to be picked up. Those of us using Bestway were the only ones with pick up on the regular day. They always leave the trash can next to the garage door once they empty it and have never charged us extra for those random times that we have more than our container full of trash.
Lori to get a diamond ring reset I would go to Tri-Gem 2127 N Weber St (719) 636-2921. It is a small neighborhood store that has great prices (has been there forever), usually he has pieces that you can not find other places or The Gilded Artisan 9205 N. Union #140 (719)495-1060 (the the King Soopers shopping center). This is a newer store but he does great custom work, good prices also.
As for tile work – Steve Avis 491-2759
For carpet cleaning I would recommend my brother-in-law’s Service Master business. He does our carpets twice a year and I have had lots of my friends use him. It is a middle of the road price, but you will get a great job done, much better than the lower priced companies. It is truck mounted cleaning, which is the best. The guys are reliable and courteous, always putting the customer first. They also do a great job on pet urine, mold issues, etc. He can also tell you if you would be better off replacing the carpet instead of having it cleaned if there are serious issues with pets, sewer water back up, etc. My brother in law, Tim, attends several classes a year, updating himself on all the latest carpet cleaning issues. They also do a lot of commercial cleaning for businesses; and a lot of volume on fire and water restoration. His family attends Woodmen Valley Chapel and he is a man of great integrity. Contact info is: Service Master of Colorado Springs, 3405 N. El Paso Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80932, 719-633-9555, owner is Tim Egeler
Lori
I know of a wonderful jewler that can reset your diamond ring.

Re: Trash Provider
We’re new to Colorado Springs and the concept of finding your own trash removal company was a shock to me! We chose L&L Disposal because they were the cheapest of all companies I called ($14/mo). We live in central C/S, and I don’t know what other areas they service, but we’ve been very pleased so far!
We researched trash companies a couple of years ago and came up with Bestway. They have reasonable recycling, bring your can up out of road when they are done, and have come to my door to get the trash when we didn’t get our trash out on time. Very good customer service!!
For carpet cleaning, we have used Specialized Carpet Upholstery & Air Duct Cleaning (http://www.be-specialized.com/) They are fantastically priced for the high quality we received. They are also truck-mounted cleaning; Kathy is absolutely right that that method is the best! Billy is the owner and a great brother in Christ to our family as well. He also has some coupons on his site: http://www.be-specialized.com/docs/spe_coupon_08.pdf. Contact info: 719.290.5088.
Lori,
I second McNulty jewelers. Did a beautiful job on a ruby/diamond ring that needed repaired.
For Trash Service we use Springs Waste Systems. They were the best price I found for trash pickup and recycling.
Ditto on Candy’s commit for the Guilded Artisan. I am not a big jewelry wearer but most of my friends are and they swear by Charlie and his crew. I have one girl friend who should get frequent customer bonus points there. She just loves their stuff and the quality. I do know that they do a lot of custom work for other stores through out the state.
Lori, My husband is the jeweler at Glenn’s Jewelry and Loans on Palmer Park and Academy (591-7331) and will do a great job resetting your diamond. They have reasonable prices and are very trustworthy! Ask for Tim!
For trash service, we have been very pleased with Rocky Mountain Disposal.
For trash, we use Springs Waste systems. They are reasonably priced & their service is great! Yes, I have forgotten to take trash out on collection day & when I called the office, she sent a truck through later in the day to pick it up without any cost to me! Their number is 634-7177.
L&L services trash up north and is GREAT!!
Steve at Above the Rest at 229-3761 is FANTASTIC! TRUSTWORTHY!
No relationshipe or affiliation to either – used both for years!
One trash service I would absolutely NOT recommend is Waste Connections. We went with them when we moved recently because the previous owner used them. BAD choice. They managed to pick up our trash ONE time out of four before we finally had enough and cancelled them. I called them no less than a dozen times when our trash hadn’t been picked up and was on hold for 10-15 minutes each time before anyone even answered, then was promised they’d be out “that day,” which never happened. Terrible, terrible service all around. We now use Waste Management and are very pleased with them.
I just wanted to say thanks for the info on the cherry chips! I will have to go to the King Soopers on Centennial (Once I find out where centennial is)! :)
For a tailor, I would recommend Maureen at Designing Advantage (http://designingadvantage.com/). She did a bridesmaid’s dress overhaul for me. Extremely professional and reasonably priced. A true professional. She is on the West side of town.
I second Bestway Disposal. They are awesome. They bring your cans up to your garage or front porch on windy days. And you don’t have to separate your recycling…all goes in one big green can. They are also the only trash/recycling program in Colo. Springs to accept glass. And if I forget, they’ll ring my doorbell and go around back to get my cans. Their awesome.
My neighbor has his own company and I understand he does great tile work! B.R. Banks Handyman Services- http://www.brbanks.blogspot.com, phone 719-661-2317
Chuck Horne has a home improvement business. He did everything that we needed when we bought our house last year. His bids came in below everybody’s and the work was great. He completely retiled our walk-in shower and I love it. His cell is 640–3321. He’s pretty busy but worth the wait. I think it’s called Compass Home Improvement.
Tile work: Use Curtis McKinley cell 491-8483. His work is fantastic and he is a REALLY hard worker. He just finished tiling part of our basement and we love it. He has great design ideas as well which helps when you’re not sure what to do. We are very pleased with his work and will use him again in the future.
Nelson Brothers Jewelers on the NE corner of Academy and Maizeland is wonderful and very fair in price. He reset my wedding set when the prongs kept breaking and I havent had a problem yet. The phone # is 574-4744 and Monty Nelson is the owner.
I totally agree with L &L DISPOSAL and Tri-Gem Jewelry. Best prices in town, (and even better when you pay in cash). I also have used landscaping company – Golden Pond. 488-3964 or 886-4825. Pierre did a beautiful job on a limited budget. Nobody else I had come out would even touch a “small job”.
A third vote here for The Gilded Artisan (719)495-1060 (King Soopers shopping center). I recently had my ring re-pronged there. I always like to support locally owned businesses.
For affordable landscaping, I would suggest Backyards Only. (They do front yards too). (719) 380-7275(Roger is the owner) They install sod and were used by a couple of our neighbors as well. We didn’t want to do anything really fancy, but our yard turned out beautiful and very affordable, especially compared to some other local landscapers. We were going to do a lot of the work ourselves and when we worked with the landscaper, it ended up being the same price to have them do the work with the materials, since they get such a steep discount on materials and our yard was completed in less than a week.
JEWELRY: I see that several people have mentioned McNulty. They are great!! They’re the only place I take my jewelry and they’re very reasonably priced. I think they do a lot of work for the stores in the mall, but of course, it’s a lot cheaper to go to them directly!
For carpet cleaning I love Super Steam Mobile. Real steam cleaning to the truck (no chemicals unless you want them) Does a great job for $120. 719-574-5881. The guy is no salesman but I would rather have a good job. Try him.
–Captain D’s has fried green tomatos–
–Springs Waste for trash service they have the best rates–I had problems with Waste Connections for home service,we use Waste Management at work they are HORRIBLE we are in the process of switching.
I have to chime in about how great Bestways is. We have had the same experience as others: they ring our door bell if we have forgotten to put our trash out, they have picked up garbage during snow storms when no other company was out. They have been amazing, and their recycling is great!
Regarding a Tailor, try Alterations by Lee at 4837 Barnes Road. Phone is 637-8687 . I have used him several times to alter jeans on the backside and he did a fabulous job! His prices are very reasonable, he is very friendly, and his shop is immaculately clean. He is very professional.
For trash pick-up my guys are Rockey Mountain Disposal…I Love Love Love these guys!!!!!! I have forgotten to take trash out…..they go get it….if it as in the garage they knocked on my door…..they always bring my cans back to the garage or side of the house…..they don’t complain about a little extra sometimes…..they are the BEST!!!!!!!! their # is 492-2050 tell them kathleen maturin referred them. Pricewise I don’t know where they fall…it would’nt matter to me…..I would pay for that OUTSTANDING service!!!!!!
I would highly recommend Rocky Mountain Disposal. They have been great, reasonably priced and always have brought our cans up by the garage door. A few times we have had extra trash and they have never charged us extra. My daughter recommended them and they have even gone up to her house to get the trash if she forgets to put it out by the curb. We had US Waste Management for many years and they were great years ago but then there prices were getting so high and if you left any extra trash even once in a while you would get an outrageous bill from them. The last time they charged extra for one extra half full can and they charged us for a hopper full which was $25.00, I cancelled them immediately.
“low-priced landscaping company”
My brother owns a fantastic landscape company called Fisk Lawnscapes. Here are some thoughts from his website…
We commit to you that we will strive to do the best job possible.
We are professionals in all we say and do; there is no swearing, smoking, drinking, or misconduct.
We aim for perfection. Without exception we stay on the job until you’re completely satisfied. If we make mistakes we will make it right even if it means re-doing something.
We keep the work-site as clean as possible during the job and thoroughly clean up after the job is complete.
I would highly recommend his services – he and his crew are completely honest, reliable, and the work is done quickly with excellence. And he also offers free estimates!

496-6300
Landscaping? I’ll recommend my brother – Fisk Lawnscapes – 495-6300 – not sure where he would fall in the pricing range but I would trust him!
For tile work, I have hired Tim Herbert from TNT Tile Creation several times. He’s done great work and always shows up as scheduled. He’s motivated to get the job done and after knowing his work quality over the past couple of years, he’s the only one I would hire. Phone is 596-04447 or cell 244-7402.
For the tailor, I use Maria’s Tailor shop at 7605 Union. She’s always been reasonably priced and does nice work.
I use Natasha for a tailor she is on Union and Dublin. Reasonably priced and does awesome work. She is in the shopping center across from the Walgreens.
My hubby does tile for a living. You can give him a call and he can try to give you an estimate over the phone or set up a time to check it out. He’s been doing tile, carpet, anything floors since he was young but full time now for at least 15 years (that I can remember lol)
Steve 209-1032
If he doesn’t answer or call you back, please call him again. He hates the phone some days. lol
The Gilded Artisan did great (and inexpensive) repair to my engagement ring and a necklace, AND…they bought some old scrap gold which paid for the repairs! yay!
