Reader Requests: chili, motor oil, pickles, and Grapeheads

Kerrie wants to find Bush’s Chili Magic.  She says she can only find it at the commissary but would like to know if there’s another place she can purchase it!

Dan says “where can I find cheap motor oil?  Specifically, 5W30, any brand as long as it is cheap.  I could routinely find it for $0.99 a quart in San Antonio.  Best I seem to be able to do is around $2 at Walmart.”

Nicholle wants to find Gedney pickles.  She says “They are a MN brand. I used to get them under the Archer Farms brand (they made pickles for the Target brand) but Target stopped carrying them. I usually have my family bootleg several jars across state lines so I can have some here in CO.”  Help the woman, she sounds desparate!

Katrina wants to know where in the Springs she can find Grapeheads (made by the same people as Lemonheads).  She said she’d settle for grape Mike and Ikes, too!

All right, here we go – let’s help each other out!  Please leave a comment with your answers to any of the above requests.

    RE: Grapeheads
You can order direct from Ferrera Pan Candy: http://www.ferrarapan.com/store/item.asp?ITEM_ID=216&DEPARTMENT_ID=83
$4.95 for a case of 24/0.9 oz boxes ~ doesn’t seem like that bad of a price!

I've seen Bush's Chili magic from time to time in Walmart and King Soopers on the north end of town… just on or north of Woodman.

Option 1: Look at the same store at a different side of town.
It appears that each store handles its own stock based on region so while your local stores don't carry it, a store across town might.

Option 2: Get friendly with your grocery store's manager.
King Soopers has worked with me in the past (you might need to remind him/her a few times throughout the week to make sure your order got through).

    Option 3: Co-op it.
You can also get a few friends together to co-op it. This works best with good friends who have money to put down first then come back to pick up after the delivery. Friendships have broken up because someone didn't pay up-front and was pestered on a daily basis with the ominous “where's my money?” line.

Grape Mike and Ikes are at the Dollar store. They have a different name but I can't remember what they are called.

    Katrina,
I saw Grape Mike and Ike's at Party City (at woodmen and academy) today…I thought of you. There is also a new candy store in the chapel hills mall that has a ton of bins of candy. YOu may have luck there. Enjoy!

I saw last night that the Grapeheads are on sale in a “combo bag” for Halloween at Dollar General. $3 for the bag and it is called Lemonheads & Friends – but it has Grapeheads on the bag, too.
