The Melting Pot in Colorado Springs is located at 30 East Pikes Peak Avenue. I’ve heard it’s pretty pricey but have never been. Have you? Was the experience worth the cost?

The Melting Pot is amazingly yummy and romantic … but definitely very expensive. It’s one of those places where it might be worth it for a major wedding anniversary, or other extremely special occasions. I’d recommend going once just for the experience!
I love the Melting Pot! Most of the time when we go we get a 3 course type of meal. A cheese fondue to start then the main course with the meats and then a dessert fondue. Go VERY hungry because it is a lot of food but oh so good! It is pricy but you can often find coupons and deals to make it a bit less pricy.
I have had several people tell me that Mona Lisa is a better fondue restaurant but I have never been there.
We love the Melting Pot. Definitely pricey, but great for celebrating a special occasion. Like a previous poster said there are often coupons available that make it a little less expensive. The experience is intimate and fun. The meal takes a long time and is a lot of food so you feel like you are getting a good experience for the money. Just be sure to let them know if you are celebrating an anniversary or birthday. If you are just a couple, they have special private booths with curtains so you can have privacy during your meal.
LOVE the melting pot! It IS on the pricey side, but it also takes a lot longer to eat there as well, since you eat/cook your food right at the table. But I love that fact! You can take your time, enjoy your conversation, whatever! Also, you can just get a cheese or dessert fondue and it’s under $20, if you don’t want to pay for an entire 3 course meal….(which also includes a YUMMY salad!!!)
Melting Pot is pricey, so is Mona Lisa. I make my own good cheese fondue because it was over $100 when we went to Mona Lisa last (obviously before I started couponing and we can NEVER get in in time for the restaurant.com promos), and it’s somewhat of a trek. Mona Lisa IS better in terms of food, but Melting Pot is better on privacy. Mona Lisa also has some very very good wines. There’s goods and bads about both really.
But because they became so pricey and us being on our limited income – there’s no way we can afford this, when I make a White Wine Brie fondue and a mint creme chocolate fondue for under $20 total. Toss in another $10 and I can get all the cuts of meat and sauces too. So our big night out, is our big night in with this one. I can’t justify the cost anymore now that I’m saving all this money from Carrie!!
Both of those fondues sound wonderful! Do you know where you got the recipies for them?
We like to make fondue at home too – much more reasonable. And the kids love to do fondue! I would love you recipies if you would share them!
I can try!! I somewhat have a recipe, but I sorta throw things together. Start with about 8-10 oz. of Brie, cut off the rinds. Cube it into bite size pieces. In about 1TBSP of flour, toss brie cubes and coat lightly. Warm about 1/2TBSP of butter in a small saucepan, add 1/2c of white wine and warm (don’t boil). A couple bubbles on the bottom. Add brie cubes a few at a time and stir well. From here – you can get creative. I add in about 1tsp of garlic powder (I NEVER add salt, the white wine will make the flavor very bitter with this). Maybe a scosh more white wine if it’s thick. You can add some dried herbs and seasonings or whatever your heart desires. Put into a fondue pot, and to save cash, I buy “mixed roll” bags from the store and just tear them up and dip.
For the Mint Creme Chocolate Fondue, I start with 1c of whipping cream, and heat that up in a medium saucepan – never ever boil any good fondues – kills the flavor. Slowly add a bag of chocolate chips – you can do this with ANY type of chips actually. If you want a peanut butter fondue, just add 1/2 bag chocolate and 1/2 bag peanut butter chips. Anyways, back to the Mint Creme – once that is all melted down and smooth, slowly stir in 1tsp of Creme De Menthe – taste and if it’s bland to you, add another tsp and on until it’s your liking. Buy a fruit tub, that has several fruits in it – like strawberries, grapes, etc. Graham crackers are good, pretzels… whatever you want to try!!!
The key to a good fondue is stirring because you never want the bottom to get too hot!
Thanks! Those both sound sooo good! I am writing them down for future reference! Thanks!
I would love those recipes too! They sound yummy and I have two fondue pots that are dying to be used.
Yes, The Melting Pot is AWESOME!!! I’ve been there 3 times and all different locations: Colorado Springs, Nashville and a town in NJ overlooking the NYC skyline – all of which we’re amazing locations, service and food!! I highly recommend going and seeing it for yourself! Its worth every penny!! :)
