Ready to hear who won the $20 Goodwill gift certificate giveaway? There were lots of great guesses as to the correct color rotation – wanna know what was correct? Here it is – the color tags at Goodwill stores in Colorado Springs go in this rotation:
- White
- Purple
- Yellow
- Green
- Red
So, this week yellow tags are 75% off, green is 50% off, and red is 30% off! What happens to the stuff that doesn’t sell after 75% off (four weeks in the store)? It’s taken to the Goodwill Outlet, which appears to have peaked some of your interest.
Unsold Goodwill treasures to go rest at the Goodwill Outlet, located at 3506 N. El Paso St. (just north of Fillmore). Most everything in the store is $1, though there are some items that are priced a bit more. The Goodwill Outlet is open Tuesday-Saturday from 10 AM to 5 PM.
I’ve been to the Goodwill Outlet a few years back when it was on Platte Avenue, and remember that I snagged a wool sweater vest from Nordstrom’s for my four year old for just a buck! There are definitely deals to be had.
If you can’t get enough of Goodwill, be sure to fan them on Facebook, too – they often announce special deals and remind you of the color rotation!

You have the color rotation for Colorado Springs but how do you find out what it is in California? I live near the Goodwill Stores in Orange, Santa Ana and Lake Forest, CA. Also, I heard that some of the Goodwill Stores offer the correctly colored tags $1 per item instead of 50% off. How do you know which stores do that. Sounds like a great deal to me!
Lisa, it varies by city because Goodwills are “franchised” to a certain extent. I would ask an employee at your closest store and I’m sure they’ll help!
As of Jan 2012, in Phoenix the color rotation is: orange, blue, purple, pink, green, yellow.
