Today I bought 8 pairs of shoes

shoe carnival store closing sale shoe clearance

You guys.  I have never bought eight pairs of shoes all at once in my life.  In fact, I’m guessing I’ve probably never bought that many over a year.  Or two years. Or maybe even three years.  But today, I went to Shoe Carnival’s store closing sale and bought eight, and paid…

$57.14

That’s an average of $7.14 per pair.  I was totally surprised at how much stock they had left – and it wasn’t all in super tiny sizes and super huge sizes, either.  I wear a 7.5-8 and had no trouble finding the size I needed in the shoes I wanted.

The Shoe Carnival employee that checked me out said their final day is January 17th, and while he didn’t know when they would take further markdowns (currently everything is 40% off the lowest marked price), he thought that based on how much they had left they would be marking it down even more at some point.

A seriously big thanks to Melissa for the original tip. This post is linked to Super Savings Saturday – check out others big money saving adventures and get inspired!

After I read this, I headed out to Shoe Carnival myself! Bought 4 pairs of shoes, one pair of sunglasses and paid $64 for all. Original price of just the shoes was over $200. Thanks for the great tip!! :)

Just went tonight. They still have lots of women’s shoes left and a wide range of sizes. If you’re looking for men’s shoes I wouldn’t waste a trip unless you specifically looking for Vans in a wild range of colors (like purple/black, neon orange/green etc.) I asked as to why the mens shoe selection was such slim pickings and it is because they had to ship most of their mens shoes to other stores where the company would make more money off of them. I was however able to snag a single pair of mens Dr. Martens for $33 which is an amazing price for the brand. Be extra careful in checking your prices if you buy kids shoes. For some reason many many pairs got overlooked when they starting putting pink stickers on. The employee I talked with wasn’t sure what happened. My daughter picked out a pair that according to the price marked and 40% off would have been $16 but I found out they were really just $4! I would go soon if you’re interested. They also have a $5 table with lots of nice dressy shoes and lots of summer shoes are 2/$8.
