Restaurant.com gift certificates are a great way to try locally-owned restaurants at a discount. Briefly, here’s how it works:
You purchase a $25 gift certificate from Restaurant.com. These require minimum purchase, which varies by the restaurant, but is usually $35-50 (and has some restrictions, like no alcohol and no holidays). Your $25 Restaurant.com gift certificate is deducted from your total, so if your total before the gift certificate is $40, you’d save $25 and your out-of-pocket cost would be $15 (plus the few dollars you paid to Restaurant.com.
There are different coupon codes available throughout the month, and as the month draws to a close, the coupon codes get better and better because the selection of restaurants is fewer. I’ll keep you posted as to the latest discount codes!

I just want to make everyone aware that this isn’t as great as its cracked u to be. I have had 2 bad experiences.
1) the first place I tried was a place on Colorado AVe in Denver…they said they had canceled their account with Restaurant.com a month earlier and would not honor the certificate. After some prodding they offered me 20% off the bill if I stayed, but I didn’t.
2) The restaurants that specify adding the 18-20% gratuity before the meal are really barely a deal. For instance, Bhan Thai, where I sent, added on this 18% gratuity when you have to order your food at the counter, and all they really do is walk it out to you – you serve your own drinks and such.
It added on a substantial fee when we had to place a big order.
So I would say just do the math thoroughly first, and stay away from any of the ones that add a gratuity.
Thanks for the info, Holly! I *think* you can also get whatever you paid for the certificate refunded from Restaurant.com, too, if it’s worth the hassle.
