Albertsons deals through January 12 – good prices on meat!

Here’s your Albertsons deals for this week.  I’m writing this post assuming that Albertsons is not doubling coupons, since there were mixed results when I asked last week.  I really wish Albies would get their act together and either consistently double coupons, whether advertised or unadvertised, or when they are doing them, if they’d advertise so we’d know for sure!

If you’re 55 or over, you will receive a 10% discount off your entire order if you shop today, January 6th.

One more note: their Big Book of Savings (available in-store) has a coupon for Caribou Coffee for $3.99If they will let you combine a manufacturer’s coupon with that, you could use the $2/1 printable from Coupons.com to get it for $1.99!

Meat, Dairy, and Frozen

Albertsons Half Gallon Milk $1
Rating: 3.5-4 – pretty standard price these days

Assorted Pork Loin Chips, Bone-In (Family Pack) 98¢/lb
Rating: 3

Country Style Pork Ribs, Bone-In (Family Pack) 98¢/lb
Rating: 4 – been awhile since we had this sale!

Chicken Drumsticks, Thighs, Leg Quarters, or Whole Fryer (Jumbo Pack) 78¢/lb
Rating: 4 on everything but the Whole Fryers; I’d only give them a 3 at this price.

Boneless Tilapia, Catfish, Swai, or Pollock Fillets (Family Packs, Frozen) $2.88/lb
Rating: 4 – about the only place it sometimes goes cheaper is Rancho Liborio, but that’s often for bone-in

Produce

Russet Potatoes (15 lb) $1.88
Rating: 4 – the equivalent of paying $1.25 for a 10 lb bag, which we can pretty often get for $1 at Rancho Liborio, and a little less often at other stores.

Monterey Sliced White Mushrooms (6 oz) $1
Rating: 4

Red Bell Peppers $1 each
Rating: 3

Yellow, Zucchini, and Grey Squash $1/lb
Rating: 3

Fresh Express Garden Salad (12 oz) 88¢
Rating: 4

General Grocery and Household

Free Tailgate Products Promotion: buy 4 or more participating Kraft or CocaCola products and get new free products every week.  This is really vague – I think you’ll get a catalina for one free product for every four you buy.  Unless they run some sort of a sale, buy four get one free is not going to be a good deal.

Select General Mills Items $1.88 each – buy 6 and get 30 bonus Boxtops for Education instantly.  Here are a few deals I see – there aren’t many!

Yoplait Frozen Smoothies $1.88
Use $1/1 insert coupon
Net cost at checkout: 88¢
Rating: 4

YoPlus Yogurt (4 pack?) $1.88
Use $1/1 insert or printable from Coupons.com
Net cost at checkout: 88¢
Rating: 4

Glaceau Vitaminwater (20 oz) 88¢
Rating: 4

Gerber 2nd Foods (2/3.5 oz) 88¢
Rating: ? – anyone know if this is a deal?

Softsoap Liquid Hand Soap $1
Use 35¢/1 insert coupon
Rating: 3 – I’d hold my coupon and use it at a store that will double it

If you find out that Albertsons is doubling coupons this week, please share!  There may be some deals to be found if they are.

I shop at the Albertsons off of Austin Bluffs and Dublin and they are always doubling coupons there. I have never had an instance where they did not double (or triple) and when I have asked they said they double all manufacture coupons up to $1all the time. Is it different at other locations? I do know some stores are owned differently (I believe some are union and some are not and have different corporate rules) If any one knows I would love the info :)

  2. Amanda says:

I was just there yesterday (Union & Research) and they did not double my coupons. But, I did have a catalina from Safeway that was about to expire and they took that no problem.

  3. Michele says:

About the baby food being a good deal….I think so. I don’t buy it too often, just for traveling and so forth, but the “store brand” food 2 packs are usually about 88cents at Target or Walmart, so Gerber being that price should be a pretty good deal. I was thinking of getting 1 or 2 just to have on hand at that price.

  4. Liz says:

I shop at the one on Dublin & Austin Bluffs too. I was there last night & they did not double coupons. When I asked last week when I had a coupon that did double, if they were still multiplying coupons, the cashier didn’t know & thought perhaps management had forgotten to take the multiply feature off. Ah well! I did stock up on meat last week – I was really low on chicken (wish I would have known about Rancho’s price for this week – wow $1.27/lb!)

  5. Jennifer P says:

The Albie’s on Research and Austin Bluffs run the same, Albie’s did stop doubling/trippling for a while before the holidays. They really need to do so to bring me in the store on a continued basis. Just my 2cents….

  6. Becky says:

I was just at the one on Cheyenne Mtn. Blvd. and they are NOT doubling coupons this week – bummer.

As for the Caribou coffee, they did accept both the store and manufacturer’s coupon.

    • Julie W says:

Union and Austin Bluffs “reluctantly” gave me both coupons on Caribou Coffee….but pointed out that the Albertson’s coupon said it could not be combined with another offer. I got one coffee for $1.99! The Marcel facial tissue is $1 and FREE with recent flyer coupon. Anyone else find a store willing to take both coupons on the coffee? I’d love to stock up.

  7. Heather says:

I was at Research and Union yesterday too, planning on them doubling my coupons (I thought they always doubled, then sometimes tripled, etc.). They did not double, and the cashier expressed her irritation with them doing it then not doing it. She said they’re always confused too. I agree, they need to come up with a policy and stick to it for me to want to spend much time there. If the other stores always double, that’s so much easier to plan!

  8. Jenbee says:

I buy the Gerber2 food weekly. It usually is $1.08 at Target and Wal mart. So this is a good price. I will be stocking up. I shopped at Dublin and Union yesterday and they did not double my coupons. I never assume they are going to double unless the ad says. Since they are all over the place with coupon doubling.

  9. Lisa says:

Here’s an idea for the “Free Tailgate promo” which I unfortunately didn’t get the details until after I purchased 1 less than the required number of qualifying items. So to hopefully save someone else the disappointment here we go!
I received a catalina detailing this offer that runs from 1/1/10-1/24/10 on Kraft Cheese products. Buy 5 qualifying products and get a catalina coupon for $5 off your next order.
The following items (6oz or larger) were listed:
    Kraft Singles
    Kraft Parmesan cheese
Kraft Natural cheese (chunk, shredded, crubles, sticks & cubes)
    Kraft String-ums
    Kraft Cracker cuts
    Kraft deli deluxe cheese slices
    Philadelphia ready-to-eat cheesecake filling
    Philadelphia cream cheese
    Velveeta cheese product
    Cracker Barrel Cheese
    Cheese Whiz process cheese

Now, there were select flavors of the Natural cheese on sale for $2 each. If you buy 5 you’ll get a $5 coupon off your next order, and a coupon for a free item (I got free Ritz crackers, and a free 2lit bot of coke product) I think this works out to a pretty good deal if your in need of some cheese. Hard to believe but my family has run through all the cheese I had bought during the Safeway deal.

  10. Amber says:

Does anyone know which Albie’s (if any) carries the Fruit Smoothies frozen fruit? I’ve looked at the GOG one and the Union/Research one with no luck. I’d really like to stock up on some frozen fruit… if only I could find it! ERG.

    • Carrie says:

I’ve bought it before but can’t remember which one had it! BTW, it’s not just “fruit” – there’s sucralose in it (in addition to sugar). I was kind of bummed when I saw that because we don’t eat any artificial sweetners. Personally I don’t know why they didn’t just use all sugar! :)

  11. Amanda T says:

I wanted to let you know that the Albertson’s at Centennial and GOG had Marcal paper towels for $1, free with coupon!

  12. Aysha says:

Last year (it ended Dec 31) they were given stickers for every $10 spent. When you reached a certain number of stickers (I think it was 40) you received a free pot. Anyways, I attempted to collect the stickers but didn’t spend that much at Albertsons, so I have about 20 stickers for anyone who wants them. I believe they have to be redeemed by the middle of this month but 20 should bump you up to the next level. First come, first serve! Email me at ayshamaddox@yahoo.com.
    Thanks!

    • Carrie says:

Ack, thanks for the reminder about these Aysha! I have enough for a free pot, thanks to someone in line ahead of me that spent $200 and gave me all her stickers! I’ve *never* even come close to getting enough; I’d better remember to redeem them this time! :)

  13. Sondra says:

I was just at the Alb at Dulbin / Austin Bluffs. I specifically asked at the front desk about their coupon policy in regards to doubling and tripling coupons. they told me that UNLESS IT IS ADVERTISED in the flyer that they are doubling and tripling coupons it is their NORMAL police NOT to do so. so you have to watch the flyers. this week for example, it is not in the flyer so therefore they told me that they are not doubling / tripling the coupons. bummer.

    • Carrie says:

Yeah, but sometimes you go into the store and it’s advertised in store. During those weeks when they weren’t advertising it, they still had signs at the checkout stands saying they were multipying coupons.

Once they *stop* doubling one week, then it’s safe to assume they’re not doing it again until they advertise it. But they may advertise it one week to kick it off, and then not advertise it the next week, but still do it. Not sure what their official “policy” is on it, but that’s how it comes out to the general public!
