Ugh, it’s tax time again! You can file your federal return free through Turbo Tax – it’s a “simple” return, and for your sake, I hope yours is simple. :) Looks like it’s $27.95 to file the state return.
Valerie noted that you can file your Colorado state return for free through the state’s website!
Amazon runs specials on Turbo Tax occasionally, so if you need to buy the software you might want to check Amazon.com
periodically for price drops.
By the way, if you’re planning on claiming the tax credit for purchasing a home, you won’t be able to e-file, unfortunately. Because of fraud, you’re now required to mail in the form along with additional documentation. Here’s more information on claiming the housing tax credit.

http://www.taxact.com is free for federal returns. Nobody filing in the state of Colorado should ever pay for their filing. If you go to the state website you can file your return free of charge online. So use taxact for the federal portion and the state website for the state portion….all free!
Sweet, thanks, Valerie! I’ll have to find the link to the state website.
I was talking to my friend and they were telling that Hand R block was charging about 500 to get your refund back in a day. I was telling them about this and how to do it for free. I have been doing this for years and never have had any problems with it. DO IT ALL FOR FREE!!!
