I used Hallenbeck Coin Gallery downtown, COS. I was very happy with their service and competitive prices. Very nice people.

We sold some gold jewelery at Hallenbeck Coin Gallery on Nevada and were treated fairly.
While I can’t give a specific jeweler, do NOT use gold parties or the TV ad gold buyers. They give you pennies to what market rate is. I came across research for it, when I was trying to put up an informative post on what I call “party pushers” for my candle forums. Gold parties basically cut even more money out because you’re items not only have to be paid through the company they are using, but also a middle man. For a diamond solitaire, white gold that you buy in the store right now for $1500, cash4gold gives you around $200, parties average $100 for the middle man to take their cut as well. Take it to a jeweler who may want to resell it, they’ll give as high as $5-800 depending on clean up and resell it for that $1500.
Your absolutely best bet is to take it to a mom-and-pop local jeweler. A lot of times, they’ll not melt down your piece, but polish it and resell it instead. Chains don’t really buy anything but extraordinary pieces and don’t really “need” to give you the best rate for you and them.
Luisa Graft Jewelry buys gold. They are locally owned and reputable. Do not send your gold to one of those mail order places or online. Also do not go to one of those events at a hotel.
Thank you, Valerie…..I didn’t know Luisa bought jewelry. Good to know.
I heard that on their commercial. I have been meaning to call them. Have you gone to them before?
I have been buying coins for my husbands collection for years now at Hallenbeck Coin Gallery. I have noticed a large number of people selling their gold there. Chad, Sharon, or Karen would be very happy to help you. It is a very friendly place.
I have held two very succesful cash for gold parties at my nail shop. The company I use is The Gold Exchange www, thegoldexchange.us Check it out on line if you want. The man I deal with pays cash and gives you 70% of that days market price. Both parties he gave out over $8000.000 in cash. My clients and myself were so shocked at how much our broken chains old rings one earring brought. If you are interested I can put you in touch with him let me know.
I sold a bunch of broken gold and silver jewelry to the coin shop at Academy & Maizeland by the Steaksmith. I was very surprized to leave with $250 for a bunch of scrap jewelry. They were friendly and honest.
I forgot to post when this came out, I just wanted to mention Hallenbeck Coin Gallery also.
Regarding LOCAL jewelers – Lane Mitchell Jewelers is locally owned, mom and pop. Sell gold to them, keep it in the local economy. Lane is honest and straightforward. And they have great jewelry. http://www.lanemitchelljewelers.com
I went to the “Cash in your gold” kiosk in the Citadel mall today. They were not only informative, but honest and gave me a great deal. They said I had a little under an ounce of 14k with my chain necklace and bracelet, and I walked away with 700 dollars! I paid 300 for these items six years ago. Talk about an investment! I encourege anyone looking to sell gold to go to these guys.
I have been to Lane Mitchell downtown and have sold them some stuff but went to sell them a pendant that is white gold with diamonds in it and they told me it was worth $250.-$350. and I should put it on craigslist. Does anybody know where I might sell it and get about 250? I had it on a snake necklace and the bail I had to have repaired at Jared’s where I paid $75. to have that done. It is in like-new condition. Thanks
I have to agree with John about that Cash in Your Gold kiosk at Citadel Mall. They really do pay top dollar. I’ve been to countless jewelers and pawn shops up and down Academy and Platte and found that none match what they pay out at Cash in Your Gold. In addition, the service can’t be beat along with their thorough knowledge of the precious metals industry. I would definitely check them out before going anywhere else if you’re in need of some fast cash!
Don’t use the kiosk in Citadel Mall, they use penny weight which gives you considerably less. Use Hallenbeck coin gallery, inc. they are the fairest. I took a necklace weighing 50.8 grams (18K) to kiosk and they would give me 1350, at Hallenbeck’s they gave me 1691. with the spot price being 1724. at the time.
