The insert for Safeway in today’s newspaper had a few nice store coupons, and an announcement about a new frozen food promo. If you drink Pepsi, I’d stock up on the 49¢ two liters (limit 5 with in-ad coupon).
Looks like the in-ad coupons on the front are good only through Tuesday, while the ones on the inside and back of the ad are good through next Sunday. Those coupons have some great prices on Ken’s Dressing, Prego, Tostitos, and Huggies and Pampers diapers! Looks like Safeway-brand pasta is also 50¢ through Saturday – I’m stocking up!
Also, there’s a new frozen food promotion that runs through March 30th. Wow, a whole month to figure out deal scenarios! You’ll need to buy $25 in participating frozen food products, and then you’ll earn a coupon at checkout for $10 off your next order. You should be able to use that $10 coupon to purchase another $25 in participating frozen food products and earn another coupon, and so on and so forth.
Right off the bat, saving $10 off $25 is saving 40%, plus any sale and coupon savings – this type of a sale usually gives us some awesome deals! Here’s one of my trips from a similar sale last year. Here are a few key things to keep in mind:
- Don’t spend more than $25 – the more you spend over $25, the lower your savings percentage gets.
- Be very careful to spend a total of $25 after all sale discounts and store coupons (but before manufacturer’s coupons). If you don’t hit at least $25, the coupon won’t print.
- If you don’t have coupons for a particular product, hold off buying it if you can. With a month-long sale like this, we are bound to get coupons for some of these products in the next week or two.
I’ll try to put together some of the best deals for you on Wednesday when I do the whole ad wrap-up. Let me know if you spot anything hot in the meantime!

I just went this evening and had a great shopping trip! I took advantage of the pasta sale… so many types, looks like every Safeway brand pasta was 2/$1. I bought 14 boxes, plus used the store coupons for Oscar Meyer bologna (99c w/coupon) and the skippy PB (1.49) and the 49c Pepsi products. I had two bologna, 1 PB, 14 pasta and 5 pepsi’s and paid $9.92 OOP after store and manu coupons! My original total before club card/coupons was $38! That was fun!
Also went to KS for the Kelloggs/Milk deal and found some marked down Dannon kids yogurts that I was able to match with coupons for 29cents or free! Thanks for all you do to help me save money :)
Nice work, Melissa! I got about 8 boxes of pasta and will go back for more. The sale tag indicated it does run ten days, so should be good through the next Wednesday through Tuesday sale cycle, too.
I did the frozen food promo today and my catalina says “$10 off your next frozen food purchase” Was this how it worked last year? I thought I would be able to purchase anything with the $10 catalina – not just frozen food.
Hmm, now that you mention it, I believe that’s how it was last year, too. I think last year I kept “rolling” it on frozen food and then at the end just bought a few things I needed in the frozen section that weren’t necessarily included in the promo.
Did you see this post on common sense with money: http://networkedblogs.com/LbkT
Do you know if that is working here?
Sarah, Brooke just posted on the wall that it is – I just put up a post about it. Thanks for the heads up!
Great! I guess I am going to Safeway today after all. I had just decided that the coupon for Pepsi wasn’t good enough to get me there. But this is! I am almost out of toilet paper.
I need to ask a question on the Upromise for the toilet paper and the paper towels how does that work. We have Upromise but I am not sure how to use that?
Thanks,
Christina
The Upromise e-coupons do NOT come off on your total, the amount is added to your Upromise savings account.
Ok I guess I am not sure what to do on my upromise side to make sure that happens. sorry.
Never mind I have to register my card.
