Buy 10 Save $5 Mega Event

Another hot week of the Mega Event.  As a reminder, for every 10 qualifying products you purchase, you’ll save an instant $5 at checkout.  You can do this as many times as you want in one transaction.

I did pretty well last week with making a detailed list of what I wanted, what I had coupons for, and then kept a tally as I placed things into the cart.  I didn’t even double count, can you believe that?!  I freaked at the end and threw an extra bag of Quaker Rice Snacks in my cart just to make sure I had an extra in case I miscounted, but nope – when I checked out the receipt said I had 51 items!

Several of you have reported finding coupon booklets and tearpads in store with coupons for some of these items, so keep your eyes peeled for those for even more savings!

Thanks to everyone who posted on last week’s thread about the Mega Event with all their tips and finds!  I tried to update them all on this week’s list.  By the way, “new” deals are ones that have been added since last week’s post.  “Updated” deals are ones that were listed in last week’s post but have had new coupons or other information added.

  1. Heather M. says:

The Toll House cookie dough is $1.40 after the buy 10 discount and with the $1 coupon the final price is .40.

  2. Jennifer P says:

You can load from cellfire another coupon for Nestle cookies which makes them close to 30 or 35cents. Also, you can load from cellfire or shortcuts Nature Valley and maybe some others….

  3. Jennifer P says:

On the Skippy PB, if you got the Safeway recipe coupon book there is a coupon in ther for the Skippy, I just dont know their price right now. Does anyone else??

  4. Sarah H says:

Wow! I don’t know how you have the time to get all of this together. I’m looking forward to going back to KS to take advantage of some of the new deals this week. Thanks for all your work to give us this information.

  5. Joanne says:

The Franks Red Hot *Wing* Sauce is also included in the sale. There are various insert coupons that bring it down to $0.99

  6. laura says:

The Johnsonville coupon online is for summer sausage – the stuff kinda like salami? I don’t think we’re supposed to use it for smoked sausage or brats. (It could be that they had coupons for brats and smoked sausage but they’re gone now?)

The softsoap coupon is gone now.

I’m getting ‘install the coupon printer’, for some of them, which, from experience, puts me in some sort of loop. I got that for the ‘not butter’ coupon and another, but I can’t remember now which one.

  7. laura says:

It says on the website that the mission coupon is gone too…boo hoo!

I’m planning on one group of 10 – steamers vegetables, the goldfish crackers and either some nabisco crackers or cheese. I like to have a few extra coupons on hand if possible, in case they are out of an item, plus it allows me some flexibility. If I can get my mitts on enough coupons to do two groups (and they have everything in stock), then maybe I’ll do two.

    Thanks for everything, Carrie! :)

  8. Pam says:

I was at King Soopers on Sunday and they had recipe booklets for Super Bowl Sunday in a display stand with the tortilla chips, velveta cheese, etc. At the back of the recipe booklet are several coupons. One of these coupons is for $1.00 off 2 cream cheese. That makes the cream cheese $.49 each!!

  9. Amanda says:

The softsoap insert coupons are for the 8.5 oz size not the 7.5 oz size in the ad.

  10. Becky says:

Last week the Nabisco 100 Calorie snacks were part of the Mega Deal (I’m assuming they are still part of the deal this week). If I recall correctly, the price was $1.88 (if bought as part of the buy 10 discount) and $2.39 (individually). I had a coupon that I believe was from the 1/3 Sunday inserts for $2.00 off one box of the 100 Calorie Snacks (or Crystal Light). As such, if used as part of the buy 10 discount they are free, otherwise only $0.39.

Also, last week, the Mega Deal also included:
Other French’s mustard products (e.g, Honey Mustard, Honey Mustard dipping sauce; unfortunately, not the Spicy Brown)
    - can use $0.50 insert coupon I believe from 1/24

With regard to blinkies, my KS (Cheyenne Meadows) no longer had the blinkies for Rotel or Hunt’s tomatos, but blinkies for Keebler Town House Crackers and Keebler Chips Deluxe cookies were available (hopefully, we’ll be able to use these in the future).

  11. Holly says:

The Ro-Tel and chili master were on sale last week as well. I was able to get $.21 cents BACK (money makers…thanks Joanne!) on 4 cans of the chili master with the coupons from 1/24 insert. And the Ro-tel were $.49 per can last week as well….I was thrilled! This is a fantastic sale!

I’m actually going to have to go back for the ice cream! We eat a lot of ice cream all year round (well the hubby and my daughter do anyway)…so I’ll be making 1 more trip. ;-)

  12. Valerie says:

Does anyone know how many feet are on the quilted northern rolls? I think it is still cheaper to buy costco tp but if not – I’m stocking up, we are way low!

    • Liz says:

The Quilted Northern reads 381.3 SQft, 286 2-ply sheets per roll. I always price per sheet & thought this was a good price ….. all I can say is that we go through these rolls waaaay faster than the Kroger brand of TP. Plus the fact that if you chat to any plumber, they’ll tell you to use single ply not 2+ ply to keep your pipes clear. Hope this helps!

  13. Amanda R says:

I went to the KS in Monument this past weekend and they only accept 3 like coupons per purchase, so I had to change everything around and do 2 separate purchases so I could use all my coupons. haha luckily I went at night and I was the only one in line!

  14. Cati says:

Carrie, I’m not able to get this to print using your print tool. It opens a box with the print and PDF icons in the upper left, but the rest of the box is blank. When I click on ‘Print’ it displays a bunch of ads and says it sent my page to the printer, but nothing prints. I’ll print it differently for now, but I prefer to use something that strips away all the stuff I don’t care about (saves paper and ink). Has anyone else had this problem?

I’m going to have to go through all my coupons when I get home and plan a trip to the store this week. I think I’ll be able to stock up on a lot of things! This is great!

  15. Sarah H says:

I have a completely unrelated to King Soopers question. I received a Save a Lot booklet in the mail today with a bunch of coupons that say manufacturer’s coupon at the top, but also say Save a Lot at the bottom. Can I use them anywhere?

    • Kelly says:

I haven’t tried to use those anywhere yet but I was wondering the same thing myself when I got the booklet, someone who knows pretty please answer :)

  16. Roxanne says:

the SoBe coupon is also out…

  17. Erin says:

I went to KS yesterday and used 2 of the Finish dishwasher detergent coupons for $2.50. For some reason only one would go through the other had to be manually entered. It definitely pays to make sure your coupons go through correctly!

Snyder’s pretzels are on sale for $1.99 (Mega Event pricing). There are coupons for $1 off which brings the price down to 99 cents.

Also Annie’s crackers are on sale for $2.00. If you have the coupon from the Annie’s calendar it brings the price down to $1.

  18. Jennifer P says:

I thought the Finish $2.50 coupon expired….you got lucky!

  19. Amanda says:

Expired coupons will “beep” when they scan them and it’s up to the cashier whether or not to put them through. The finish coupon had expired (1/31). That’s probably why it didn’t scan.

    • Erin says:

I didn’t realize it had expired. I wonder why the first one went through with no problems. I’ll have to double check the dates on the coupons next time.

  20. Amy says:

Is Rotel included in the Mega 10 this week?

  21. Amber says:

La Victoria salsa is also included in the buy 10 event. It’s 1.99 for a 16oz bottle. If you are a La Victoria member on the website and have done any of the LaVic rewards, this can be as cheap as free or 1$!

  22. Jenny Driscoll says:

Guys, I did the math on the Irish Spring that’s on sale this week–NOT part of the mega event. There is a 50¢/2 coupon for the bar soap that came out in the last insert, and the 8 packs on sale for $2.88. So 2 of those minus $1 equals 30¢/bar, and I called both Sam’s and Costco for a price check, and they are selling it for about 38¢/bar (rounding up on both). Nice! This is also cheaper than the Lever 2000 or Dial at these clubs.

Also, I asked a clerk one time if there was a grace period on expired coupons, and she said it’s not “official” but they give you about a week. So I have used coupons that are up to a week old JUST in case they go through, and I have never had a problem. If they reject it, no problem by me–I understand.

  23. Lori says:

I went to KS today to finish-up collecting my deals. The Rotel didn’t seem to be included anymore. It was marked with a different looking yellow tag for .92cents. Anyone else notice this, Is that what you saw too Amy?

  24. Angela says:

Whew! I am so glad to know about the expired coupon grace period. I once knowingly used an expired coupon just to see if it would work. When it did, I felt horribly dishonest.

  25. Susan says:

Thanks for all your hard work Carrie!
    I saved 52% today.

  26. Kathy says:

I hit 69 % on my trip to KS on Friday! Thanks Carrie for all you do! By the way, 4 kids are awesome! Congrats to you! Mine are now 13, 16, 20 and 22 and I have loved every minute of every stage; they aren’t hanging on my legs or pulling stuff out of my grocery cart anymore, but helping them make important life decisions is where we are at now which can be just as taxing on parents! But thanks to your website, we are not going broke with 2 in college and 2 in Christian school! This has allowed me to not have to go back to work and to have the emotional margin to be there for my kids when they need my guidance. Thanks!! Hope you had fun at Blissdom!

  27. Sarah H says:

I just got back from King Soopers and I think I was short an item or two for the mega event. I thought I heard that the receipts said the total number of items for the mega event on the receipt. Am I just missing it or do they not have that on the receipt this time?

    • Jenny Driscoll says:

My receipt does. It’s the next to the last thing printed on it. Between 2 rows of asterisks it says “Mega Items [ + ] = 40.”

  28. Janet says:

Kings has Suave products on sale. The body wash is 3/$5, use your 50/1 or 75/1 coupons to get them for .66. Suave lotion is 1.85, use your 1/1 coupon to get lotion for .85 cents!! The small Suave deoderants are $1, use your .50/1 coupons to get them for free. Don’t know about you, but my closet is stocked for the next couple years with free deoderant!!!!

  29. Jenny Driscoll says:

The Kraft dressing catalina started Feb. 5, and it’s only for ranch and italian. But if you buy 4 of those at $1.69 (the mega event price) and use 2 of the $1/2 Kraft dressing coupons from that blue game day booklet that was at KS (I can’t remember what it’s called), you get a $3 OYNO catalina and pay $1.76 for 4 dressings! (I think…) Again, only for RANCH and ITALIAN.

Also, I used the buy two get one free Arrowhead printable coupon to get the 24-packs of the .5 L (normal size, not too big, not too small), at $3.49 (mega pricing) and surprisingly received a $3 OYNO catalina! Soo… after the catalina I paid $4 for 3 24-packs. That’s 72 bottles of water, which we calculated to be about 5.5¢ per bottle.

The Rotel didn’t seem to be part of the mega event anymore at my store either. I didn’t ask–just ditched it.

  30. Charlotte says:

Hey does anyone know if they mega event continues this next week? I really don’t want to go to the store tonight but if it’s my last mega chance I will go.

  31. Kelly says:

Just got back from the Baptist Rd location & the Rotel is participating!! Also someone kindly showed me that their seedless mini watermelons are $1 ea. Also got a catalina for a future deal: Buy Kleenex tissue between 2/22-3/21 get up to $3 OYNO. Buy 4 get $1 OYNO, buy 5 get $2 OYNO & buy 6 or more get $3 OYNO.
