Thanks to Kathy for commenting to let us know that Albertson’s published a one-page ad in today’s Gazette that stated they are doubling and tripling coupons!
This definitely changes the ad review for this week – I thought I’d update with some of the cheap and free deals. However, this is going to be difficult to do since Albertsons’ doubling policy varies on location, manager on duty, and cashier. Last time I was at Albertsons I asked if I could have a copy of their official policy, but the cashier told me there wasn’t one because it was always changing!
Colorado Springs Albertsons stores, if you are reading this, please release an official coupon policy! We just want to know the rules so we can know what to expect.
So, here’s what you can expect based on past experiences: coupons “33¢ to 49¢” will be tripled up to $1. So, your 35¢ coupons will be worth $1. Coupons 50¢ to 99¢ will be doubled up to $1, so your 50¢ and 75¢ coupons will be worth $1.
Albertsons may or may not double coupons that state “Do Not Double”. If the coupon barcode starts with a 5, the computer should automatically double it, but in the past some Albertsons stores have manually overriden this by taking the doubling amout off. Some stores may not double internet coupons even if they don’t say “Do Not Double”.
I’m giving you these matchups assuming coupons will double as long as the barcode starts with a 5. Please remember the above, though, and know that I have no clue what your experience will be! :)

I just went to Albertson’s last night. I wanted to use my BOGO eggs coupon we got from facebook in early Feb. They said any IP coupon that has a Free item is not valid in their stores, I asked how long this had been in effect and he said around 6 months or so. Bummer, but I do know that because Easter is coming we’ll get some cheaper eggs soon. Carrie, did you know about this “rule” at Albertson’s?
I *thought* the rule was no “free” coupon sif they didn’t require a coupon – B1G1 used to be OK because it required a purchase of one product to get other free.
However, last time I was there the cashier had to get approval from a manager for a coupon for a free product that I got at my blog conference – it was full color, glossy paper, both sides, with one of those fancy schmancy shiny hologram things. She said she had to get approval because she wasn’t sure if she was supposed to accept any free coupons (even if they’re not printed).
Argh.
I got eggs at Albertsons a week or two ago and used my BOGO coupon with no problem.
Wishbone Salad Dressing
- $0.75 IP (http://www.wish-bone.com/Coupons.aspx)
= FREE
I just went to the Union Center Albertson’s last Saturday and had no problem using my B1G1 Free egg coupon.
I didn’t see the Green Giant Valley Fresh Steamers in the on-line ad. Is it hiding? Thanks!
Any idea when the doubling/tripling is going to end? Is it through next Tuesday or just the weekend? Thanks for the information, it will save me a bunch!
It’s “for a limited time”, so I have no idea.
Just went to Albies on Dublin and Austin Bluffs. I used 10 printable coupons for the Steamers….4 said “do not double” and 6 (from Smartsource) did not have that wording on it. 6 of my coupons didn’t double and 4 did. I asked and the manager said NO PRINTABLE coupons were supposed to double. At least they didn’t limit the printables I used. I HATE this coupon inconsistency….seems the policy is different every time I go.
If you have joined the “La Victoria” rewards program, you can get free enchilada sauce by printing up and using 50 cents off one, from the La Victoria Site. The coupon doubles, no problem at the self check out. Used the Wishbone and Steamers coupons for all FREE goodies!
Albertson’s IS doubling coupons this week at least through Tuesday!
