A reader emailed to ask about a cheap car wash in Colorado Springs:
My car is filthy and I am ashamed to be seen in it! Does anyone know of any good prices/deals/discounts on car washes in town?
Whether it’s a tip on a cheap on an automatic wash or the lowest priced manual car wash in town, leave your tips in the comments! I ahem may have to use some of the tips myself.

We always use the $3 car wash (the ones that say $3 car wash in giant letters, not sure if that’s the actual name!). There’s one right next to the Home Depot on N Academy and on N Powers (at Barnes I think?).
The cheapest car wash is $3, and it does a good job at getting my car clean :). And they give you a free vacuum token too.
I use them too. In the winter I use the $5 wash to get the “wheel blaster” to get the winter curd off my wheels.
I use them too. They’re called White Water. If you buy a $25 gift card there around Christmas time, it only costs $20.
I like that they give you an upgrade before 9.
The one at Powers & Barnes has an Early Bird special, I think it’s from 7-9am? You get a free upgrade ($5 carwash for $3, etc).
The $3 wash next to Costco on Powers has early bird specials which gives you the $5 for $3. Can’t remember the hours though, but it was early in the morning.
I used to use White Water; they were good, inexpensive, and the staff was great. Lately, however, I refuse to use them. The carwash stopped and when it started again, the beater cloths were right at my side mirror and whacked the mirror right out. It made such a loud noise that my 3 year old was startled and asked what happened. When I drove out I immediately reported it and the nice young man told me to go into the office. The manager rolled his eyes, came and “looked” at it and proceeded to break it further messing around with it and then told me it must have already been broken or close to broken. He treated me like I was a liar and was trying to get someone to fix my problem for free. He said they would “view the tapes” and call me back. He rudely called a week and a half later and said it was my fault, just like they thought. They offered me some free car washes “for my trouble” but I refuse to go somewhere they treat me like a thief. Maybe it’s an over reaction, but I hate to give money to a business like that.
Oh, I should mention that the particular White Water I mentioned above was by the Home Depot near Pikes Peak and Academy.
I agree with Erika about the $3 car wash. I used to the one on Barnes/Powers on a regular basis. It would always miss a big spot on the back of my van, but it was so cheap that I didn’t mind it all that much. I went there about a week ago and my car was filthy, so I bought the $10 wash. It did a horrible job on my van and missed an even larger spot on the back and a big spot on the front, too. I called the store and told them about the situation. I asked if I could get a re-wash. He was so rude to me on the phone. He finally said, “Bring it down and we will have a look at it and decide if we will give you another wash.” With that kind of customer service, I’ll just take my money elsewhere. It wasn’t worth my time to go down there and have to argue with the guy as to whether or not I would get a re-wash. From now on, I’m going to pay the extra $$ and go to Water Works. The towel dry the car for you, so if there are any missed spots, they will notice.
Where is Water Works?
I use the 3.00 one on Powers but when my car need super detail I go to the hub and they clean it inside and out for 12.95 with a coupon from the E book..
I have been to The Hub many times when I want to get the inside of my car cleaned too, mostly because they are close to home. However, I haven’t always been happy with them and almost always leave finding something they didn’t get clean. On a few occasions I have asked them to take care of it, and they do, but I hate to ask EVERY time I go. The last time I went with my daughter and asked that they vacuum her seats. They assured us they would and when we came home they weren’t done and they missed some spots on the outside. We called and asked if she could bring it back the next day to have them re-do her car, but she had to bring it back that day or they wouldn’t do anything about it. They do an okay job, but for $12+ I think it should be a great job! I will be driving to another car wash in the future. Inspect your car BEFORE you leave and expect to be there a while, they are pretty slow.
On the west side, I discovered the Loaf N’ Jug at the very end of Garden of the Gods, near 30th street. Their basic wash is $6, BUT you get 10 cents off of a gallon of gas when you purchase a car wash at the pump. COMBINE that with the 3 cents you already get off with your King Soopers card and when you get a car wash there, you get 13 cents off each gallon of gas! If you need a fillup and a car wash, that is a pretty good deal.
There is an automatic car wash lane in the wash-your own car wash at Chapel Hills Mall that starts at $3. It is certainly sufficient for a winter dirty car.
Quick Quack on Austin Bluffs is $5.99, not the cheapest, but they do have free vacuums and they have the dryer at the end, so you’re not left with a really wet car and streaks. I love the use of the vacuums, I can take as long as I want and get it really good. My kids love driving through it too, they like spotting the ducks on the walls.
I stopped in at Quick Quack last week & promptly backed out … their price for the basic wash had gone up to $8 – bummer – this was my favorite place to get my car wash – loved the dryer & the free vacuums!
I go to the Hub on Woodmen and Rangewood behind Walgreens and La Casita. On Monday and Tuesday, it is $5. Plus it is a really unique location with a coffee bar, restaurant and gift shop. Wii Fii too.
I go to the Conoco wash on Nevada and Cache de la Poudre on Tuesdays – when you buy 10 gallons of gas on a Tuesday the $7 car wash is free! They also have $5 washes which do a pretty good job.
For fancy washes I go to Quick Quack. If you are someone who uses their car in their work, it would probably be worthwhile to get the unlimited washes per month deal there – less than $20 I believe.
I can’t remember the name of it, but there is one near Nevada & Garden of the Gods. If you are headed east on Garden of the Gods and turn right on Nevada, it is on the left. It’s an automatic wash that starts at $3 and they have FREE VACUUMS! The vacuums do a great job and the car seems to get pretty clean with the cheap wash.
I’ve used the White Water $3 car wash at Powers and Barnes since they opened last year and haven’t had any problems. One of the employees told me that they will rewash your car if it’s not clean if you have purchased the $10 wash. Just make sure you inspect it before you leave.
Lately I’ve been going to Smuge Car & Dog Wash at Powers and Dublin because they give you damp towels to wipe down the inside of your car and unlimited use of the vacuum. The basic wash is $6, which is what I usually do. I think it is worth the extra $3 to have unlimited use of the vacuum and be able to wipe down the inside of my van! They also give you a punch card so you can earn free washes.
If you go to Dontdrivedirty.com, you can sign up for a free birthday car wash at Quick Quack car wash. You can also sign up for their monthly newsletter with special offers :)
Speedy Shine on 8th St is my favorite. Their washes range from $5 – $10 plus you can save an extra $1 if you go the first or last hour they’re open for the day. They too have free vacuums! It’s basically like water works, but you drive it through yourself (no worry of people steeling anything in your car) and it costs less :) They also have gift cards you can buy at discounted prices(get an extra $5 to $20 in car washes based on how large a card you buy) on site, or at their website http://www.speedyshine.com
They also usually have a coupon offer on the receipt for tutoring too at a local learning center.
