Video: how I decorated a baby’s room in vintage style, frugally!

I love vintage, especially children’s vintage!  And, I found it was actually pretty inexpensive to decorate our “baby room” in a vintage style.  Come tour one of my favorite rooms in the house by watching the above video.  If you’re reading via RSS or email and can’t see the video, please click here.

There are more videos from SpringsBargains on YouTube – including the ones I decided not to post because they weren’t very good. ;)

Love, love the game board ideas. Yes, you totally inspired me to finish a little bit of decorating in my third daughters room, never really finished her room with decorating that is. poor thing. Good job.

I’m so sad that the 80′s are now vintage. Ugh. I’m getting old. :) Such a cute room Carrie!! Love the ideas.

LOL, well, I am kind of forcing it with saying 80s are vintage. 70s definitely are, though, and there’s not THAT much difference, except in price! ;)

Very cute and creative! Further proof that you don’t need to spend tons of money on decorating a kid’s room. Thanks for sharing!

You’re so cute! Love the video and that dresser is amazing! After painting, did you gloss it to give it that wonderful glaze/shine? I would love to know what you used!

    • Carrie Isaac says:

Brandy, we – er, Jeremy – used polyurethane to finish it off and give it the shine. (We used cheap paint from WM, btw.) One drawback to using the poly is that it makes it difficult to touch up – to get a “perfect” touch up, you’d have to paint and then poly again, which would be a pain. We actually just painted our dining room table and chairs today and used exterior paint (seems to hold up better), and will *not* be poly’ing it so that we can just touch it up whenever we want.

The poly does give it a nice shine, though! If you didn’t want to poly you could try a semi or high gloss paint to give it more shine.

What great ideas! I decorated my son’s room in a train theme and have gotten several inexpensive vintage items from antique and second-hand stores. The dresser is fabulous!

Too cute! I love the letters spelling out BABY – way better and cheaper than buying a set for each kiddo. And it looks great with the “vintage” paper – awesome idea!

  9. Amy says:

super adorable… and i love the cameo appearances. ;)

Wow – very nice! I love vintage, but hadn’t thought about doing a nursery in that style.

    Great idea!

Thought of you today when I was at the ARC on Austin Bluffs. They had a super cute, very vintage “rocking chair” for a baby/toddler. It was was fabulous – so fabulous that they wanted $50 for it!! Oh well, it’s sure to be perfect for someone…

    • Carrie Isaac says:

Ouch! That’s one thing I don’t like about thrift stores… They see something vintage and think it automatically means valuable – even if it’s not! (Of course, sometimes it is. :))
