Video: How To Make An Apron (and sew only one seam)

My sewing abilities leave, well, a little to be desired – but I’ve figured out a couple of ways to repurpose clothing to feed my desire for cute aprons while both spending and sewing little.  Watch and see!

Where is the cheapest place to buy fabric and patterns?

You should sell them for us lazy ladies who like the instant gratification and doing no work! Haha, I’ll blame it on pregnancy for right now :)

On a totally different note, without sounding too creepy and weird, would you mind telling me what color chocolate brown is on your walls? I know, I know it’s odd but I have been looking for the perfect brown for a while now and I really like yours :)

LOL… well, I don’t have any chocolate brown on my walls! The kitchen is actually a green called “Porch” (from Valspar, maybe?) and we have Molasses in the dining room, which has been in a few vlogs. YOu could maybe use a graphics program to pick out the color you’re seeing in that seems to be brown and see if they can match that! ;)

Haha, that figures! I totally see a chocolate color in the apron video and I love it :) Maybe I need to check my monitor settings!

    • Carrie Isaac says:

Well, it’s pretty brownish-green. Like, almost one of the greens that would be in camoflauge. :)

I once modified a skirt I got at a thrift store or garage sale (can’t remember now) that had a Christmas print and turned it into a tree skirt. This was in the days when tree skirts weren’t quite so abundant or cheaply priced – served the purpose well for quite a few years!

    Hi Carrie,

Love the idea of turning a dress into an apron. Like you, I need something to cover my entire torso!

I made an apron out of towels once. I think I had an apron pattern to follow, but it was basically a bath-size towel for the front, hand towels for the sides, and lengths of ribbons for over the neck and the ties. It was super easy. I think I cut the front a bit to give it a nice shape where the bath towel transitioned into the hand towels and hemmed it on the machine. So it was a bit more work than yours, but still nothing complicated. I actually made it for my husband to wear when he’s grillin’.
