Hot hot hot price on Strawberries at Sunflower tomorrow

I feel pretty confident in saying that 88¢ for a pound of strawberries is about as low as they’re going to go!  Outsie of a coupon popping up, I suppose, but usually a coupon deal would be limited quanities.  I’ll definitely be buying a bunch and freezing, how about you?

Oh yay! I’ve a couple cartons of vanilla yoghurt in the fridge. I’ll be blending it with strawberries, pouring into dixie cups, covering with foil & sticking a popsicle stick in the middle – little frozen (healthy) snacks for the kiddos!
I’m so happy their coffee is on sale too! It has such great flavor!

    • Carrie Isaac says:

We did this last week with strawberries and bananas! I looked and LOOKED for popsicle molds but couldn’t find any – so we used plastic dixie cups. I froze the smoothies in the cups for about 15 minutes and then stuck the sticks in so I didn’t have to use foil. Works great… As long as you don’t leave the cups in there and forget to put the sticks in. ;)

      • Liz says:

yah, I’d forget to put the sticks in! I have a hard enough time remembering that I started laundry & it winds up sitting in the washer most of the day until I eventually remember … not likely to remember yoghurt pops need sticks after 15 mins!!

        Carrie-
I founds some at King Soopers in the seasonal aisle just a few weeks ago, 10 for $10.00 (great price too)! They hold 4 little popsicles and are a great size for kiddos! Hope this helps.

        • Carrie Isaac says:

Oh man, WHERE in the seasonal aisle?! I swear I looked up and down – and made two trips to Walmart and looked up and down their seasonal aisle.

On the bright side, I made about 50 popsicles the dixie cup way the other day, so it was faster than a popsicle maker, I guess.

          • Rachel says:

            Hey Carrie,
So so sorry this is such a delayed response, but I wanted to inform you (in case you are still interested) that the popsicle holders are still at King Soopers or at least the KS I regularly go to, Centennial and Filmore. They are next to the grilling section in the seasonal asile. I also spotted them in a few other locations now that summer is full blown! Hope this helps.
            Have a great day!

  2. Sara says:

Oh yes we will be stocking up and freezing strawberries….YAY…my mother in law is coming to town next week too and will probably make us a BUNCH of jam!!!

  3. Tacy M says:

Homemade jam is the only kind one of my kids will eat. We’ve done strawberry and pear in the past and both are super yummy, but we’re almost out of strawberry, so I’m thinking we’ll set aside a day for making several batches! YUM!!

  4. Charlotte says:

I love strawberry freezer jam! It is sooo easy if anyone wants to go out on a limb this week and try making a batch, just buy a box of sure-gel and the recipe is inside!

  5. debbie says:

Oh…I needed end of the year parent gifts at school. Time to make some strawberry jam!!
