The Sam’s Club at Academy and Woodmen (perhaps other locations as well) has 2.5 lb bags of “Farmer Friendly Coffee” on clearance for $2.97! This is a fair trade, whole bean medium roast coffee.
Matt said they had a more than a full pallet at that location when he was there! Hard to beat $1.19/lb for coffee of any sort!

What are the rules if you want to shop there but aren’t a member?
Valerie, you can get in with a one-day pass periodically, but I don’t think there are any available right now. :( It’s a 10% surcharge with the non-member pass. I’ve never asked if you can shop any day of the week and just pay the 10% surcharge, but would love to know!
Well, I just went, figuring the worst they could say was “no” and the best was “here’s some really cheap coffee, you poor, caffeine addicted mother of early-rising children.” Turns out they don’t have any passes in the store but there is apparently one online I could have printed…but since I didn’t print one they weren’t supposed to let me through. BUT the customer service lady was just lovely and let me through anyway. She was so, so, so nice about it. So here I am, 7.5 pounds of coffee later, very impressed with Sam’s Club customer service. :)
My understanding is that you must have a membership to purchase there. However, you can sign up and then cancel at any time and (you’d have to verify with the store) still get your membership money back. 100% satisfaction thing.
Does anyone have a report on the taste of this coffee, or better yet, how does it compare with others like Starbucks, Caribou, Seattle’s Best?
So I tasted the coffee for the first time this morning. It was pretty good for bulk coffee! I’m a recovering coffee snob… but my cheapness (err… penny pinching-ness) beat my coffee snobness and sent it running!
It’s not great shakes, but its better than the Member’s Mark coffee there and certainly better than Starbucks (sorry, I do not like Starbucks coffee).
Thanks for the tip! I went in yesterday and purchased 20lbs for $23. We aren’t coffee connoisseurs. We just go through alot of coffee in our family. So for us it was a great deal! Thanks!
