Where do you get the Safeway August Fresh Ideas Mag? I asked and the lady at the checkout had NO idea what I was talking about :) Thanks!

Just went to print the Bricks coupon for the smoothies and they are out. :(

I had the *MOST* difficult time with Safeway on Hwy 115/Academy over the weekend. The first cashier called over a more senior cashier who ended up calling over a manager and they all three stood there evaluating each and every coupon I presented asking me repeatedly, “Well, how many of these did you buy? Is this the right coupon for this?” They searched through the items I bought checking prices and calculating how much I’d be getting off for almost every item just to make sure nothing was an overage…and debated whether or not I should be allowed to get anything for free (e.g. the fruit smoothies). Then, they said since I purchased an item on clearance/markdown I wouldn’t be able to use a coupon on it. So I asked how that made sense considering they mark down things every day on sale and I can use coupons on those items. They went and got the printed policy and stood there reading it to make sure I could use a coupon on the yogurt I bought on markdown and finally conceded that there was no policy against it. I told them that I felt they were treating me like a criminal just because I wanted to use coupons. All the questions, triple & quadruple checking of coupons vs. items and final cost, etc. They said they weren’t trying to, just had to make sure they were following the policy. I told them I wasn’t trying to pull anything, that I’m not trying to cheat anyone, but they continued with the “interrogation” nonetheless. After it was all over, I told them I’d be shopping at King Soopers from now on because I didn’t appreciate they way they treated me. They just looked at me like, “AND???”. The final straw was as I was pulling away from the register, the cashier stopped me one more time and said, “Is that a box of something under your cart?” I said, “Yes, it is the meat you rang up and the bagger put under there.” She was not giving me an understanding look to say the least, so I said (probably in a too loud, sarcastic tone), “I’m not stealing from your store!” She then quickly said she didn’t mean anything like that…just wanted to be sure it was all paid for. How is that different?????? UGH!!!

That’s horrible. I worked as a cashier at a grocery store for years and we had several coupon savvy customers and it really sounds to me like you were being harrassed. I would find out who the district manager for this area is and make a complaint, that’s ridiculous.
