There’s a new way you can support a local charity – and it won’t cost you a cent, not even the sales tax on free toothpaste! :)
Local food bank High Plains Helping Hands has worked out an arrangement with local Albertson’s stores: you can get a card that you scan at Albertsons (like you would a shopper’s card, except that Albertson’s doesn’t have a card!), and then they will donate 1% of your total purchase to the food pantry.
Here’s how to get a card: email the Pantry Director, Rose Mizer, at rose@hphh.org and they can mail you one, or you can go to the pantry at 14755 E Us Highway 24 (located inside the Falcon Storage on Highway 24) and pick one up on Thursday or Friday (10 AM to 4 PM) or the 1st and 3rd Saturday (10 AM to 1 PM).
Here’s a little bit about the organization:
High Plains Helping Hands is the only food pantry in Falcon, helping over 200 families who are suffering during times of financial struggle. HPHH serves a large area, all the way to Limon, where there are few services and resources available to meet their needs.
The mission of HPHH is “helping our neighbors in need” and we do this by providing food and other basic living necessities, school supplies, children’s Easter baskets, holiday food bags, Christmas toys, blankets, coats, hats, and gloves. In addition, we encourage and pray with the families, helping them to have hope that things will get better.

I’d like to create a page with a list of local food banks and charities that accept donations. If you know of one, will you contact me with comprehensive info about what they accept?
