Falfins or the Y will be the most affordable.
I have been happy with the lessons from Cottonwood Creek Rec Center. It is $50 for 10 lessons. The max is 10 students, but my kids have never been in a class that large.
We went to the YMCA it is affordable and we took in our taxes and we able to get a scholarship for the majority of the fees!
If you’re military, Peterson AFB swimming pool membership ($150 annual for family) will get you a discount on lessons. Lessons cost $25 for eight 30 minute lessons with membership, $40 for the eight lessons without membership. I found out after-the-fact. They have morning lessons all summer (these fill up QUICK!), and Tues/Weds evening lessons during the school year.
I will second the recommendation for Cottonwood Creek Rec Center. We did it last year and it was cheapier than the Y. I also liked that they have classes for babies and they are grouped by ages (6-12mo, 12-18 mo) etc. The Y tends to group all kids under 3 together.
I had my daughter go a couple of months ago to the pool at Memorial Park, the Colorado Springs Swim school. She only had 5 in her class and the teacher did one-on-one time with each child while the other children practiced what they learned and the kids thought it was cool when they got to put their hand print and their name on the wall after they finished their classes. They REALLY have an amazing staff!!
We were at the Y for a couple of months, which was extremely cheap. But found that the instruction there was best suited for beginners or young children. Falfins (www.falfins.com) has lessons for $8 each, which my son will do this summer. Falfins is one of the top swim clubs in the area. My daugther now swims for them.
We have our Grandson enrolled in Widefield at the Pool at there Lessons for the last 6 month and I’m very happy there. The cost is $20.00 for 4 Lesson for 30 min who are on Sat. from 9:35 to 10:05. There are about5 -6 in the group depending in what level they fall in. I also like the swimming class at Pete but to late for that and they are during the week and we have Dr. Apt. right now.
I have my kids in swim lessons right now at Cottonwood Creek Rec Center. They just started their 2nd session this spring and we have had 2 of the same teachers. They are excellent. It costs $50 per child for ten 40 minute lessons. Not sure how it measures up cost wise with other places, but I do know that I started out with 1/4 being able to swim and now have 3/4 swimmers. Definitely worth the investment for our family!
I’ll 3rd (or 4th?) the recommendation for Cottonwood Creek Rec Center–It’s cheaper than the non-member rate at the Y, and my son was in a 2-person class and a 4-person class. The ones in the summer tend to be larger (6-8 kids per class), so after-school seems to be the right time to get small classes.
We’ve been members at the Vista Grande Pool for many years and were always very pleased with their swim lessons. I think the cost is about $30 for 10 30 minute lessons, usually no more than 6-8 per class and the younger ones usually had 2 teachers. You don’t have to be a member to take swim lessons there, although it’s a great little neighborhood pool and I highly recommend joining!
Thanks for the tip on the Vista Grande pool.
My in-laws just joined the Vista Grande pool for this summer (they are going to be taking care of our 7 year old for 5 weeks). I had planned to sign her up for lessons at the Y but I might need to rethink that idea.
Cheyenne mountain high school has lessons at their pool in the summer. I think it’s $50 for lessons. The kids go 4 days a week for 2 weeks per session. I think it’s Monday through Thursdays. It works great if you’ll be on vacation for part of the summer but you can still find one of the 2 week sessions to sign up for. I think there were 4 different 2 week time blocks that they offered lessons last summer.
Both of my kids have taken lessons at Vista Grande Pool. The lessons are $30 for members and $40 for nonmembers for 10 lessons (every morning for 2 weeks). The instructors are great and both of my kids are great swimmers. I have also had the kids take lessons at the Y and I was not impressed.
