It’s time for What To Make With What’s On Sale! This week, 85% lean ground beef (5 lbs or more) is $1.99/lb at Albertson’s. Ground beef is a versatile meat to use at mealtime; combined with this week’s sales on pasta sauce, I’m thinking spaghetti & meatballs will make it into our menu plan sometime soon!
Here are some other ideas for what to do with ground beef!
Grill burgers. Try Bobby Flay’s recipe for the Dallas Burger; it’s delicious topped with pickles and his recipe for coleslaw!
He also has a recipe for an interesting twist on a burger; it’s what he calls the Crunchburger (the crunch comes from potato chips layered between the burger and the bun!)
Make meatballs. Meatballs are easy to make and freeze well. This simple recipe for skillet meatballs can be used in spaghetti–or topped with barbecue sauce and tossed into a hoagie or served alongside rice and veggies. (If you have panko-style breadcrumbs on hand, try using them in place of the seasoned croutons for a lighter texture.)
Try a quick version of beef stroganoff. This Quick & Easy Beef Stroganoff uses ground beef instead of strips of beef, and it only takes 20 minutes to prepare.
Throw together tacos. Tacos are one of my family’s favorite meals, simply because everyone gets to decide exactly what they want to put in their taco shell!
There are so many variations on the typical taco meal; try Paula Deen’s Taco Soup, or Pioneer Woman’s Taco Pizza, or this Seven Layer Taco Dip!
What are your favorite ways to use ground beef?

We like Manwich!! Sooo easy to make for dinner and fills us up nicely!
One recipe that I’ve tried recently and we really like is Pioneer Woman’s sloppy joes! http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2010/04/sloppy-joes/
Her meatloaf is really good, too, though I skip the cheese and often the bacon. OK, so I really just like the brown sugar and ketchup glaze on the top :) http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2010/09/my-favorite-meatloaf/
