Avocados are one of the world’s most nutritious foods, and their creamy texture is a great addition to lots of different dishes. Most of us think of avocados only as a topping for burgers or as the main ingredient in guacamole, but avocados can be served in many other ways as well.
Here are six simple and delicious ideas for using avocados!
If you don’t already have your own method for making guacamole, try this basic recipe, Mama’s Homemade Guacamole. The ingredients can easily be adjusted depending on your personal tastes. I like to add a pinch of minced garlic and replace the lemon juice with fresh lime juice!
Another tasty appetizer (or main dish) recipe utilizing avocados is this one, Mexican Shrimp Cocktail. The recipe’s author describes it well: spicy-tomatoey-shrimp-avocado-chunkiness-infused-with-lime. Yum!
Paula Deen’s Fried Egg and Avocado Sandwiches are great for breakfast. The avocado and cream cheese in the sandwich perfectly complement the fried egg and bacon. My family loves these sandwiches; each person puts theirs together exactly how they like it!

I like to use avocado instead of mayo on chicken or tuna salad sandwiches, on a BLT and smeared on a bagel. Also good on top of scrambled eggs.
