The people of Colorado Springs have donated an estimated 250,000 pounds of food to Care and Share Food Bank in the past two days! I’m pretty sure I heard somewhere that sets some sort of record, but they are still in need of food items. They have received lots of liquids (water and sports drinks) and are now asking for easy-to-eat items such as granola or cereal bars and canned foods – no liquids.
They’re open from 7 AM to 7 PM on Tuesday and are located at 2605 Preamble Point – just east of Powers off Constitution, close to the Sonic and Goodwill. You can also drop off donations at any Colorado Springs-area Walgreens.
For evacuees: free mini golf at Academy Mini Golf; details here.

Just dropped off a bunch of bags of food around 1:30pm and Care & Share was VERY well staffed. They have volunteers outside to take your donations, big or small.
In case a northern drop-off point is more convenient, Care & Share has also designated Marco’s Pizza (at Chapel Hills & Briargate Parkway) as an official collection site. A table has been set up for donations just inside the entrance. They are asking for granola/energy bars and other non-perishable fuel that is easy/quick to consume (no more liquids, please). Thanks!
Albertsons has gatorades for .77. I took in 30.
