I’m looking for a recommendation for a children’s physician. Someone who deals with possible food allergies in children would be great as well.
And also Sharon:
I’m looking for a Pediatrician near the Garden of the Gods area. Ours retired and I’d like to find a new one before baby #2 arrives. I’d love someone who supports breastfeeding and who washes their hands in front of you before touching your child. And, of course, someone who is good with children and patient when it comes to answering questions.

I love love love Dr. Pam Casson at Sunrise Pediatrics. She has a small private practice with excellent staff and she’s VERY careful and thorough. She is very supportive of breastfeeding, and meticulous about sterilization. One o of the best things about her is that she’s so easy to talk to: having a few children of her own makes her very empathetic and understanding of parent concerns.
The practice is at Kelly Johnson and Academy, so not too far from Garden of the Gods.
Dr. Yochim of ABC Pediatrics on N. Union. She is very thorough and easy to talk to. My daughter has had food allergies since she was an infant and after seeing several pediatricians, Dr. Yochim was the only one proactive enough to figure out what was going on. We take all 3 of our children to her. She’s wonderful!!
I second Dr. Yochim and ABC Pediatrics. We have been going there for 5 years and love the entire staff. They have a wonderful after hours clinic every day of the week and weekend that has been so helpful too! They are part of the Mountain View Medical group and have a few different pediatrician offices around town.
I absolutely love my pediatrician!! Her name is Dr. Lynsky with Aspen Creek medical associates. We’ve also seen Dr. Kylee when Lynsky was unavailable and she also was great! My neighbor sees dr Kylee with her baby that was preemie and she has taken such good care of her!
We had a meet and greet with Dr. Kiley at Aspen Creek Medical Associates and LOVE her! Thanks for the suggestion. She said something along the lines of that they (or she?) is not taking older kids as new patients right now, but if you have a newborn, they will take them as well as their siblings.
I also highly recommend ABC Pediatrics at Research and Union. Dr. Childs and Golda (her PA) are excellent and you don’t have to wait forever in their waiting room. We’ve been going there for 23 years.
We just LOVE ABC Pediatrics as well. Golda is wonderful as she is not only a PA, but a lactation consultant. Very balanced approach. I also appreciate that there are such wonderful Drs. in the practice that when my little ones need an emergancy appointment, we have liked all the others there as well. Had a rough Fall/Winter last year with croup and pneumonia and saw almost every Dr. there and they work so well together.
Great front desk staff too!
We see Golda too. She s so wonderful with all the kids! I really appreciate that she listens to my questions and concerns. She really makes you feel like as the mom you know your child the best and what you say counts!
I 3rd Dr. Yochim!
We love our pediatrician too. Dr. Annelise Spees. 531.0409. She is one of the few doctors who still makes hospital rounds of her patients. She is very good with all of my kiddos. She will take time to address them & let them know what she is going to do, what she needs them to do. She is additionally certified in child development & behavioural issues. Her office is small, and staff is friendly.
Oh, one other thing … because 2 of my kids were scheduled c-sections, she was in the O.R. with me & took charge of the babies right away.
Wherever you choose, I’d recommend setting up an appointment to interview your doctor first. Call the offices & see if they can arrange that for you. All the best!
Dr. Yochim at ABC Pediatrics! We love her!! After seeing another pediatrician in town for years, who totally blew me off with concerns regarding my little one, Dr. Yochim took my hand, looked me in the eye and said, “We WILL figure this out”! Turns out, my 5 year old had terrible sleep apnea (central and obstructive) and low oxygen at night, as well as a dairy allergy and serious environmental allergies. Thank goodness we switched to Dr. Yochim, She is kind, nurturing, and very detailed. I also like Dr. Kim, in the same office. Dr. Kim has experience with sinus and allergy issues, and has been amazing support to us, as well. Summer, a PA in the practice, is also great! I recommend Dr. Yochim and Dr. Kim…they are the best!!
And, for Kathy—we see Dr. Daniel Soteres – Asthma and Allergy Associates-for allergies and he has been great! He specializes in Food Allergies.
I will 2nd that recommendation. Our son goes to ABC for his check ups, but nothing can compare to having a real allergist for the allergy issues. Dr. Soteres is GREAT with kids.
I third the recommendation. I switched from another allergist to Dr. Sotores mainly because he is so kid friendly
I love Dr. Kerri Bagnall at Iron Horse Peds. As a new mom, I had tons of crazy questions and she was very patient with me. Call me a horrible mom, but I chose not to breastfeed my baby past 6 weeks, and she was very supportive and helped to make me not feel like a bad mom. She is very practical and realistic about things which I really appreciate. I did interview a few doctors and she was def the right fit for my family :) Good luck on your search!
I also LOVE Dr. Kerri Bagnall. She’s been amazing with both my children. We drive 40 minutes to see her because she’s worth it!
Dr. Dawson at Dublin Primary Care. She’s always been supportive of the choices that we’ve made as parents. When we had weight gain issues she sent us to a Lactation Consultant instead of sending us home with formula. She’s ok with our alternative vaccine schedule and has been supportive of us doing baby led solids. Just an overall open-minded person. Love her.
We use Dublin Primary Care as well but use Dr. Kautz. He is wonderful. He always washes his hands in the room and is great with both my kids. He has been very supportive of all the decisions that we’ve made as parents, including to try a different vaccination schedule. He even sat down and told me his thoughts after he heard my concerns. Love it, wouldn’t go anywhere else.
We have also seen other doctors in the practice, when our doctor has been out, and I have not had a problem with any of them that we have seen!
We use Dr. Kautz too but I think he’s good but not great. He’s very nice and competent but I really miss our old Dr. at CSHP: Dr. Stephanie Wallace. She was the best of the best—very intelligent, had what seemed like unlimited time to spend with me when I had a billion questions, and she gives tons of advice. I’d say that is the one thing I think Dr. Kautz lacks is that he doesn’t give out tons of advice, just a little advice. I actually appreciate all the advice I got from Dr. Wallace even though it seemed overbearing at times. I would go back to Dr. Wallace but I don’t want to drive that far anymore. Dr. Kautz is really great too but Dr. Wallace was the absolute best I could imagine.
I love Dr Dawson. She has taken care of all 4 of our kids since birth and I love that she really listens. She has been extremely supprotive that we have had a very slow vaccine schedule for both our boys. She also really pays attention to what the kids have to say and has a way with them. We have seen all the docs in this practice and they work together and share info very well. We never have to re-explain things from one doc to the next. They have even made special appointments for the kids when we had a hard time getting there during office hours. We used to live 1hr and 30mins away but always came up here to see them.
Dr. Gayle Gilroy and Dr David Hoover at Mountain View Medical Pediatric Specialists at the St. Francis Medical Campus on Woodmen & Powers. Actually I highly recommend any doctor in that practice! We have been patients there for 14 years with 3 kids and never had any problem!
I use Dr. Cerniglia at Colorado Springs Health Partners (cshp.net). She has been my kids’ pediatrician their whole lives (5 years and 7 years). She’s a little far away from us, at Powers and Barnes, but the drive is worth it to go to someone we trust.
I second Dr. Cerniglia. She is so attentive to my children and always tries to help me not to feel too overwhelmed with my daughters allergies. We do the alternative schedule of vaccines with our children and she doesn’t seem as annoyed about it as many other doctors do.
As for allergist my daughter primary allergy and asthma doctor is Dr. Menich who my daughter seems to enjoy HOWEVER is your child has allergies or asthma (my daughter has both) you have to go to The National Jewish Hospital at least once!! Their doctors are the best in the world and to have the number 1 respiratory hospital in our backyard and not take advantage of it, just seems like a shame to me. Trust me they are amazing!
We see one of the PAs at Dublin Primary Care, Michelle Taylor and we LOVE her! She is super thoughtful and treats us as friends not people she hasn’t seen each time we come in (it’s nice to know that your dr. remembers you). She is great with my son and encourages me as a mom. I highly recommend her. Kelly
