REI: Mark Your Calendars For The Next Garage Sale

REI of Colorado Springs will be having their next “garage sale” on Saturday, June 30th!  The sale is open to REI members only and features merchandise that has been used or returned.  I’ve heard about nothing but amazing deals at this sale, but you will want to get there early to get the best stuff.  It officially opens at 7 AM but from what I hear, the line starts forming much sooner.

If you’re not an REI member, you can join for $20 online or in the store.  Find more info on REI’s website.

Here’s some tips on shopping the REI garage sales that readers have posted in the past:

From Patty: Just an FYI for anyone planning to attend—I am pretty sure that they do rolling merchandise all day. For the last one I stopped by around 10am and things were starting to be cleared out (like shoes) and we drove by in the afternoon and the shoe rack was full again!

The prices were decent for what you were getting and if something was wrong with the product, like a rip or malfunction, it is listed on the tag. I have never seen the checkout line so long in the store though! Might be worth sending one person to wait in line while you finalize your purchases.

From Valerie:

I went for the first time in June. It was crazy but so worth it! We got there right at 9am when it started except it was already packed so I am guessing they let the crowds in early. The parking lot was full and people were parked along the street. People hoard merchandise to the side and then go through it later to see if it fits or if its what they want.  If you wait around long enough they start to put a lot of it back as they decide what they actually want.

My first go around I didn’t see anything I wanted. I waited about 20 minutes and went back around and hit the jackpot! I got two pairs of Five Finger shoes ($14 and $19 – one for a friend!) and a pair of running shoes ($39). The Five Fingers are usually $85 each and the running shoes are selling new for $99.

They had tons of camping gear and shoes. The majority of people were trying to find Five Fingers that fit. I saw a few awesome deals on bikes too. Don’t bring young kids and come ready to rummage and grab bargains fast…its packed!

  1. This surprises me since they just had one the 1st weekend of May!! (I got my 5fingers 1/2 off!! Might go back for another. They had a pair as low as $10!)

    • I was a little surprised when I realized how close the last one was, too. I wonder if they have them regularly scheduled, or just do them when they have a bunch of stuff to get rid of?
