Here’s your Safeway deals for this week! They’ve got country-style pork ribs for $1.49/lb – a price we used to see quite often, but haven’t seen it regularly for quite some time. And on Friday, they have Hormel pork tenderloins for $5.00.
They’re also running a deal on Rancher’s Reserve beef: when you spend $25 on Rancher’s Reserve beef, you’ll get a coupon for $5 off your next order. Spend $50 and get $12 off your next order, or spend $80 and get $20 off your next order. I don’t really see any great deals on Rancher’s Reserve-branded beef but it might be a good deal if you’ll be buying steaks for Father’s Day.
Don’t forget to sign up for their new Just4U program to get personalized offers and maybe even a free dozen eggs!
These deals are valid June 13-19, 2012.

I had a horrible experience shopping at the Monument Safeway last week. They refused several of my printable coupons claiming that there was too much fraud to accept them. Their scanner wouldn’t pick up the bar code even though they were printed in high quality color and they told me that if they can’t scan them, they can’t redeem them from the manufacurer. This can’t be true since other stores input them manually all the time. It’s not like I was trying to pass 10 of the same coupon. I only had two of each. I won’t be shopping there again anytime soon.
Also, the cashier told me that Safeway is going to implement some kind of totally digital coupon system so that ALL your coupons will be on your safeway card. I find it hard to swallow that this will be better than using paper coupons since they probably won’t allow you to use them more than once. Have you heard about this and has anyone else had problems at Safeway? They used to be so coupon friendly!
I’m actually supposed to be going to an event with Safeway this week, so I’ll try to get some clarification on the printable coupons issue.
Hi KLC- I heard the same thing from Julie at customer service at the vindicator safeway. She was super nice about it and said you can customize what specials you get. I’m leery like you because there are so many computer errors already where the coupons do not ring up whether digital or not. I called customer service at the safeway on wasach and they said they hadn’t heard anything about it but I think the guy answering the phone was a new guy.
The best thing to do is not let people get you upset and find the store that works best for you. I’ve had issues at the safeway on w. colorado and the guy even took my coupon and didn’t give it back and it was a mfg coupon. Massively bizarre things go on at that one that defy logic. Ive always had a good experience at the one off of vindicator.
The customer service lady I have interacted with on wasach has been exactly the same every time- basically treating you like a dumbass before she even looks at your receipt. The computer didn’t take of 1.00 for me and I got 2 of the same items so I just calmly said it worked on the other one and she gave me my money back. But every time it is really hard to even get her to listen to you in the first place and it’s like she has a vulgar encyclopedia of insults that she regurgitates all over you no matter what you are trying to ask. I also asked a cashier there yesterday to do 2 transactions and he got seriously all bent out of shape about it and made me wait while he checked the price on the ice cream. I only had a few items too so someone needs to give that guy a chill pill. But in general I like that store just steer clear of certain people if possible.
The manager at my Safeway told me today they will no longer take coupons printed off the internet. He tried to tell me I would be able to download any coupon onto my Safeway card. I can’t imagine that will work for Facebook coupons or coupons from a specific site like Kelloggs.
Which Safeway was that Cindy? I know the one girl I talked to was nice about it but she also said that they were being told to walk around the store and sign people up with an ipad for the new system.
I am wondering if there is going to be a big effect on who shops there because it just doesn’t seem like a lot of people in the springs use coupons. I think I have only seen someone using them once!
But if there really are a lot of people out there who will change stores because of this I guess someone else will be winning like King Soopers. Even ALbertsons will start doing better. I was just in there a couple days ago and the cashier told me all the coupons should go up to a dollar. So if you have the .55 cent off coupons you can still get the challenge butter for 1.50 there right now.
I shop at the Constitution Safeway, and I have always had a good experience there, even when something didn’t scan properly and I had to go to customer service. The cashier that I go to alot told me about the Just 4 U coupon program, and he did say that the coupons you load on your Safeway card are manufacturer coupons for the most part, but you can only use them once. He did say that you could use paper coupons for additional items. He did ring up some internet coupons for me during my transaction, and there was no mention that they would not be accepting them in the future. If that is the case, I agree that they will lose a lot of business.
I moved to the Springs a couple of months ago from the Seattle area and up there they have already implemented the Just 4 U program. Everyone up there that I used to coupon with loves it. Can’t wait to try it out!
I was told a few weeks ago at the Safeway in Castle Rock that they were no longer accepting coupons printed from the internet. I chose not to buy the item and told them that I would go and buy it at King Soopers where they would accept my coupon!
Admittedly, I do not shop at Safeway a lot, but my question is – With the Just 4 U program and loadable coupons, it seems you need internet access to load the coupons onto your card. So what about shoppers who don’t have the internet? My mother refuses to learn LOL and she always uses paper coupons. I doubt very much she’d be willing to pay for internet access in her house just to load coupons to her card. Maybe you could find out some more info on that aspect, Carrie?
You can still use paper coupons, but there are extra bonuses you can get by loading coupons online or via their phone app. I guess it’s kind of like the people that just DON’T have a Safeway card (yes, there ARE some, LOL) don’t get the deals, and people that don’t have internet don’t get the deals, either.
My mom works at Safeway…in Salida, CO. They just recently had a training where she was told they would be phasing out paper coupons completely (printed from the internet AND manufacturer coupons from the paper) and would be moving to the just 4 you and online store and manufacturer coupons. She said she wasn’t quite sure how long the implementation process would be, but she guessed about six weeks.
My concern with this would be no more double coupons at Safeway! I don’t think they’ll be doubling e-coupons any time soon…
Tammy, I’m about 99% sure that they will be continuing paper coupons for the forseeable future – I was just at their headquarters in Denver last week and I’m pretty sure that question was asked and they responded that there wouldn’t be any changes to paper coupons. I’ll be sharing more about their Just4U program in the next day or two! I’ll try to get clarification on that specific issue, too.
Thanks! I had my doubts when she said it, but it just goes to show…at least one group of cashiers has potentially been given incorrect training on how the coupon program will work….Imagine that!!
LOL, I know. :)
