I am in Broomfield, but I am sure you can find these in Colorado Springs as well. I posted a “want” on craigslist for boxes, and I had a lot of people email me with available boxes. I put a limit on where I could drive to, and all of the ones I picked up were within a mile from my home. I also went to the free section of craigslist and put “boxes” in the search bar to see if anyone posted any. I got a bunch that way as well. Doing this I was able to get enough boxes to pack a 4000 sq foot home, family of 7, and did not have to pay one dime for any of it. I even got so much dish pack paper that I did not have to purchase any of that either. When I was done, I had boxes and wrap left over that I gave to the people moving into my house. I also got about 7 or 8 of those large clothing boxes….for free!! The other thing I did was asked my teacher friends for any paper boxes from their school….those boxes are the best for kitchen items, as well as books; they were also a great size for my kids to carry!! GOOD LUCK!
I noticed that Staples had empty paper boxes for $1.00 when I was there the other day. Might be nice if you’re willing to pay for a certain type of box!
I’ve also heard that wine boxes are nice and sturdy – not sure if liquor stores give them away or if you have to buy them.
On the front page of craiglist search out “moving boxes” and see what you get. When we needed them fast and couldn’t find any (in a different state) we bought them from walmart in their office supply section. I think the biggest boxes were $1.50 ish and the medium ones were $0.88 and the smallest ones were $0.58. Not too bad.
If you don’t mind a variety of sizes – my garage! I haven’t gotten around to craigslisting mine, but have about 30 from wardrobe boxes (2) to medium size uhual boxes to durable Dell computer boxes and paper-size boxes that I used to pack books in. (I’m serious!) :)
I am interested!!!!! Please email me a_ colbert@ymail.com
I would echo the liquor store comment. They are most always smaller boxes about 12 x 12 x 18 but they are plentiful especially if you hit up more than one shop.
I get mine for free from Benkins Moving. They are located of Fillmore and Stone. Turn by McDonalds and it is a couple blocks down on left. If they have any used boxes they are free.
Cheers Liquor Mart has tons up front for the taking, and there are offers all over craigslist and freecycle. Good luck!
never pay for boxes, they can be found free on craigslist!
call the cell phone retail stores. AT&T, Sprint, Verizon etc. We get great boxes that are very sturdy every day via UPS. They are free. If you call 5-6 stores you could get quite a few boxes in a couple of days.
My garage!
Hi Leslie, if you still have boxes…I would love to get them. It would be a huge help!
Thanks!!!

Starbucks has GREAT boxes! Ask for the coffee boxes from the roasting plant order – you may want to find out when the roasting plant order comes so you can call the morning of and remind them to save them.
Starbucks does have good boxes, and we save them for people all the time. You should definitely find out what day the order comes and go then; it’s hard to save them longer than a day. Chick-fil-A is great, too; they save their fry boxes, which are about the same size as Starbucks’. Just call and let them know you’re interested!
http://www.freecycle.org!! There are ALWAYS people in Springs offering up moving boxes!!
Anybody who isn’t signed up for Freecycle is missing out! The concept is to re-purpose anything and everything, in order to keep stuff out of the landfills! “Free + recycle = FreeCycle”
When signing up, I recommend getting the individual emails rather than the “daily digest” – by the time the daily digest comes out, the things posted are often spoken for already.
