Do the Walgreens end today or start tomorrow?

  2. Heather says:

Wait, there’s only a month of summer left here? When does school start here? What time do I have to register the kids by?

    • No idea on when you have to register by (we homeschool) but I know last year, some schools (maybe District 49 and 11?) were starting the first week of August!

      • D49 starts back August 6th (I think we’re the earliest, but we have more breaks throughout the year and get out a little earlier)–most start back a few weeks into August. Call your district or look online…

        • Charity StJohn says:

My sophomore starts Aug 3rd in D49 and 6th graders and Freshman start the 2nd. My younger two go to a charter school and start the 1st.

    • schools in colorado typically start around August 20th.
If you are ok with the school closest to you, you can register your kids anytime before school starts, but if you were planning on sending them to a different school you will want to get on that ASAP. They did the CHOICE applications back in February, so you may not be able to get through the CHOICE process in time.

call your local school district and they will walk you through the steps

      • Heather says:

We missed the deadline for the CHOICE application. At that point, I was registering the kids back home in PA. The local schools have signs up saying the office opens August first, so I thought that I needed to wait for that.

I’ll try to call over there Monday. My oldest daughter isn’t even going to get here till August 10th, so I hope it’s not before that….

        • Kristine says:

Not sure which district you are going into.. D20 allows CHOICE apps all year long, but no guarantee your child will be put into their first choice, even if you submit during the annual enrollment period. Contact the D20 admin/registrar–they are the only folks around during this time of year, and can answer all your questions. http://www.asd20.org

        • Crystal says:

Depending on your location and school preference alot of Charter Schools could still be accepting students. Our daughter starts Aug 13th at Colorado Springs Charter Academy. It’s hard to believe the summer is flying.

    • Sarah H says:

D20 starts on 8/15. In D20, we have open enrollment which means you can enroll any time. I suggest contacting your school now to get the process started.

    • Valerie says:

Imagine Classical Academy at Indigo Ranch starts August 1st
D49 Power Zone (Odessy, Ridgeview, Stetson, Skyview and Vista Ridge) start August 2nd
The rest of D49 starts August 6th.

All of the above have different days off during the year.

  3. Anyone know of any good deals on binders? I’ve been putting off on a project because I need about 20 3-ring binders and I can’t justify the non-school suppliy prices.

Has Target/Walmart even put out their school supplies yet?

  4. I don’t know if you know about Staples’ changed policy when it comes to teachers. My sister is a teacher’s wife and was informed by email.

  5. Do you have a lowest price list for school supplies? Or a rating?

    • Not really – best time to buy just about anything school supply-related is between now and mid-August. Anything that’s $0.25 or less is a rock-bottom price. :)

Backpacks go free-after-rebate at some point at some of the office supply stores if you’re not picky (have heard the quality is sometimes hit or miss).

      • Mercy’s gate, formerly Northern Church’s Care, is always looking for backpacks and school supplies to give out to underpriviledged families. They have their Back to School event the last Sat. of July. Items could be dropped off at their location at Rocky Mt. Calvary church. Pick up a few extras and make some kids really happy.

  6. Office Max has a coupon in Sunday paper $5 off $25.

  7. Cinamyn says:

Just to let you know. I hit up Office Max on Sunday. They would not let me use the $5 off $25 coupon with the other coupons and Max deals that I used. Also, yes Target has put out their school supplies. Their prices are what we typically see for them right now. I went ahead and picked up the spiral notebooks for .17 each even though they might get cheaper as we get closer to school starting.

  8. Heather says:

Target has reams of copy paper for $3 right now, and the ones with a red circle have coupons in them.

  9. By the way, Angela sent me a message on Twitter and said that the Staples at Constitution and Powers is out of the $0.50 Bic dry-erase markers.

  10. Don’t forget to price match at WalMart if the other stores are out of items…I always forget this!! My WalMart (in Westminster) is great at price matching!
