King Soopers: 90% Off School Supply Clearance

Tis the season for school clearance: I’ve gotten two tips about two separate King Soopers stores from readers this morning! First, from Kimi:

I was just at the KS on Hartsel Dr. In the seasonal aisle, they had lunch boxes marked down to $1.35, stainless steel thermoses for $1.35, Goldfish snack containers and sandwich containers for $0.30. There was various other lunch/school related things also marked down to 90% off. I also saw a stack of backpacks in the same section, but I couldn’t find a price to verify if they were 90% off, too. There was still a good selection left as of this morning.

And from Jenny:

I just got back from the Kings at Uintah Gardens, and in the seasonal isle (toward the back, past the Halloween stuff), they had a small spot (that I keep watching!!) of leftover school stuff for 90% off. I haven’t looked at any of the other Kings today to verify, but might want to mention to people to look for it.

There were TONS of backpacks! I couldn’t believe it! Is there a ministry that needs backpacks?? I know some organizations fill backpacks with school supplies, but I don’t know the details… They were mostly generic brand and most of them were black, but I did find a Disney princess one and snagged it–had been $17.99 and got it for $1.60. There were a handful of insulated lunchboxes, and I grabbed the CARS one and a Thermos-brand Star Wars one (each about $1). Inside the Star Wars one were great coupons that don’t expire for at least another year!!

I also grabbed a sports bottle (10 cents) and some tumbler cups (11 oz.–10 cents) for us, as well as some little 4×6 notebooks (20 cents) that I’ll put in my Operation Christmas Child bin!

Sweet! Thanks for the tips, ladies!

  1. Our church takes backpacks and school supplies to Mexico. We have a trip coming up in November. Thanks for the heads up!

  2. I was at the KS on Austin Bluffs and Academy, and they had a little stand up front near customer service of 90% off. There wasn’t a ton of school supplies, but I did happen to snag a womens Colorado Rockies baseball hat, also for $1.60!!

  3. Mercy’s Gate (formerly Northern Churches Cares) collects backpacks and fills them for their big Back To school fair every July. They need plain backpacks, so black is great.

I love the Operation Christmas Child shoebox ideas too. Plastic tumblers and water bottles are GREAT in shoeboxes!

  4. The KS at Uintah Gardens is sold out… there were 2 left when I got there. Just saying you the trip if you planned to drive over there.

    • I just got back from the Stetson Hills KS, and they too were sold out of backpacks. There were 2 there, but didn’t have tags, and I didn’t have time to track down an employee.

  5. I went to the one on Woodman & Academy and they didn’t have anything left, then up to the one on Union, and there were two Spiderman backpacks left for just under $2. They weren’t marked that way, but I did grab one for my son’s birthday. There were lots of Trapper Keepers, but that was about it!
