Wow, King Soopers starts a Buy 5, Save $5 Off Your Next Order promotion this Wednesday and there are some hot deals, including free Old El Paso products, Betty Crocker Potatoes, and Totino’s Pizzas; plus cheap Pillsbury Toaster Strudel, Chex Mix, Bugles, Betty Crocker Cake Mix, and lots more.
Important note: it appears that King Soopers is now limiting this to four groups of five ($20 back) per transaction. As always, to prevent frustration among fellow shoppers and cashiers, I would encourage you to “roll” your catalinas in another shopping trip rather than doing separate transactions.
Don’t forget to check their Deal of the Day site for a high-value coupon every day through October 20th!
These deals are valid October 17-23, 2012.

Yeah, I’m excited.
Today’s Smart Source mailer has a .75 off Nut Thins… yay! love these even more than chips! So it should also be in sunday’s smart source insert…
Sweet! Thanks for the heads up. Do you remember that catalina deal a year or two ago that made them free? Probably not gonna happen again, eh? :)
I finally got around to clipping the Blue diamond Nut Crisp coupons from yesterday and purchased some at King Soopers this morning… and to my surprise got $2 off my next shopping trip to make it an even better deal!
NICE! Well, I guess that’s about as good as that deal I mentioned from a year or two ago!
How would the betty crocker brownie mix be free after coupon? What is wrong with my math here? If it is $1.50 after catalina and there is a 75/2 coupon then how is it free?
Oops – I think I got switched around and was thinking the coupon was for cake mix. Too much copying and pasting! Sorry!
Ok the pantene deal can’t you buy 4 use $1 off 2 and 2 buy one get one free coupons to end up spending 1.25 each? At least that is what I think
No, you can’t combine the B1G1 coupons with $1/2 coupons because that is doubling up coupons on the same product.
Just in case anyone is wondering, you can get more than one $5 catalina in one transaction. I bought ten participating items and got two $5 catalinas. I don’t know if there is a limit, but it will work for at least two :)
Yay! Thanks for taking the time to update, I know I appreciate it!
Anyone know if this will roll? Can I use the coupon off another group of 5 items and still get another coupon?
Yes, I rolled three times this morning :D
A few more things that were included in the Buy 5 Save 5
Cereals: $2.88 – good deals with coupons and catalina
Regular Cheerios
Cinnamon Toast Crunch
Golden Grahams
Lucky Charms
Betty Crocker MAc n Cheese $.88 so free after Catalina
Gold Medal Flour $2.77 so $1.77 after Catalina
Also, none of my catalinas printed, but when I went to customer service, they just gave me cash back. I’m thankful that King Soopers has such great customer service.
My cashier this morning was mean. I got fed up with her and only did half my planned transactions.
also cocoa puffs. Had some good printables to pair up with them.
Is that a good price for flour out here? My ‘buy price’ at home was .99, because the local grocer would do a .99 every Thanksgiving-Christmas. I used to fill my freezer and take from it all year.
I would rate that a 3 – it’s gone as low as $1.00 around here. Depending on how sales go, the stock-up price could be $1.00-1.50 this year.
Very successful trip tonight… I did two transactions, first one had 6 sets of $5 off and I got all 6 catalinas back! So not sure if there is a limit but it goes at least that high. :) Got lots of great deals, and the Betty Crocker mac and cheese is a $.12 moneymaker so I got a ton to take to our church food pantry. But just wanted to share the cooking directions are different than Kraft so you don’t make the same mistake I did– I was making up a quick box for my kids and boiled water and threw in the noodles as I was putting away groceries and noticed they didn’t seem to be cooking right. You’re supposed to put in 1 cup water, 1 cup milk, butter, dry noodles and cheese packet all together and then cook that. Whoops! :)
I did well, too! So far I’ve spent $9 (in actual money coming out of my pocket) and have: five cake mixes, fifteen boxes of potatoes, five pizzas, two bags of flour, five packages of taco shells, and five boxes of cereal. I have in my pocket: 1 five dollar catalina, and three dollars in savingstar rebates coming. So many people would say $1 out of pocket. I’ve done six transactions at two different king soopers. I didn’t want to clean them out.
Yay for unselfish couponers! ;)
I too had a very successful trip this evening. I got all 5 of the catalinas! Also, Colgate toothpaste was free in addition to the Crest with doubling the $0.50 coupon. Filling Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes, collecting food to donate and filling our own pantry in one trip. Can’t be beat!
Ooh, nice – I actually PAID FULL PRICE (or close to it) for toothpaste a month or so ago. I need to get to King Soopers before the free stuff is out! :)
That is so funny! I was so irritated when I realized I was out of cream of mushroom soup the other day! It seems like yesterday I had 30 cans on my shelf….where did they all go?? I had to pay FULL PRICE (yes, I am yelling). I was pleasantly surprised when I looked at my receipt and saw at some point I had loaded an e coupon, so at least I did end up saving 0.25! :)
I know, isn’t it frustrating?! I could swear I’d had toothpaste in my closet, too. Well, I suppose in the scheme of things isn’t not much, but still.
I’ve had a few instances lately where I bought something that I didn’t think I had, then I came home and found out I DID have it – and several of them – after all. Gah.
The Kroger 15oz cans of pumpkin were $1.29… that’s about as low as I’ve seen it (maybe it goes lower?) but I got several.
That’s a good price! I’ve seen it as low as $1.00 before, but I’d still buy a few at that price. Rats, a few weeks ago, I noted the price on pumpkin at King Soopers and saw that it went through January – but unfortunatley, I can’t remember if it was the same $1.29 cans that you saw. :/ I’ll have to look again. Anyway, my whole reason for saying that is because if that was the price that I saw-then-forgot, it goes through January so there’s time to wait for a better sale.
There’s also this deal at Vitacost for organic pumpkin: http://springsbargains.com/2012/10/organic-canned-pumpkin-for-1-02-1-85-at-vitacost/
Jen: Thank you for posting this! Safeway had canned pumpkin on sale for $2.99/29 oz through Jan 1. I didn’t even think to look for generic, but am glad to know I can get it cheaper at Kings right now.
The same thing happened to me! For the longest time, I had plenty of cans of Cream of Mushroom soup in my pantry. Half-way into a recipe last week, I realized I only had one can left and needed two! So, I used cream of chicken instead.
I just got home from the Austin Bluffs and Academy KS… very sad. I did my first shopping order and got two catalinas. I progressed to my second order… and the check-out man would NOT allow me to use them because they had just printed. He said it was that store’s policy to not use catalinas from the very same day. He emphasized that the whole point of the coupon is “incentive to come back to the store another day”. Guess I just gotta go to a different store…???
Hey Ari,
I was just about to post about this so ppl know that you can’t roll the transactions at that store :)
Does anyone know if this policy only applies to the Austin Bluffs and Academy store? I’ve never been told that at any other King Sooper’s before.
I don’t know if there are any other stores that don’t allow it (though honestly, it can really frustrate cashiers and other customers so if at all possible, I encourage people to make several trips to the store to “roll” the catalinas). That particular store is known to frown on coupon shoppers, so it doesn’t surprise me.
I was at that store yesterday and had the cashier giving me shirty looks, so I left. I went to the one over by Cheyenne Mountain and had no problems. I don’t do a bunch of transactions at once, I walk through the store several times, but the woman went and asked another cashier each time I went up, so I left.
The cashier on Cheyenne Mountain was really, really impressed with how little I spent.
It must depend on who you get. I went to that store, and did 2 deals, rolled the two catalinas, got two more, rolled them, and left the store with $10 in catalinas, no problems.
My manager at my KS said the same thing. “These are for your next transaction NEXT time you come in.”
The catalinas are being limited to 4 rewards per transaction now. So, if you do 25 items of the B5 Save $5 you are only going to get 4 $5 cats back. :( Bummer too when the store is so busy so you decided to do one whole transaction and miss out on $25 dollars.
I had the same thing happen last night. Should have gotten $30 back but only got $20. Lame!
I just went and split my shopping into 2 baskets and rolled the catalina’s $20 into the next order. I saved 47%.
Hi!
I have a question about the buy 5 save $5 promo.
I got a catalina style coupon for $2/5 boxes of the general mills cereal. It printed off after my last grocery tirp. Does king soopers allow you to use that as a store coupon and also the honey nut cheerios manufactures coupon? Or would I have to choose?
Thanks!
You can use the store coupon & manufacturers coupons at King Soopers. I have done it before & it works. If you get any slack from the checkers, just mention the district managers policy that allows you to use ALL your coupons, no limits, same with catalinas.
Sometimes the catalina type coupons say ‘manufacturer’s coupon’ on them. In that case, I think you would have to use one, not both.
You can combine store and manufacturer’s coupons at King Soopers; however, the only “store” coupons that they have are the ones for $ off your next order (such as the ones you are earning with the Buy 5, Save $5 promotion). Any of the other coupons that print at checkout for specific products are manufacturer’s coupons and can’t be combined with other manufacturer’s coupons. They do have the store logo on them, but they are manufacturer’s coupons/
Great! Thank you for your help!!
Went to King Sooper last night. Had a great trip LOTS of deals. I asked specifically if there were any limits on the number of catalinas you could earn. I was told there were no limits. However, at the end of both of my transactions I was shorted two catalinas. The management we great and gave me a gift card. He said that this has been happening and he can’t figure out why. So be careful and make sure you get all the catalinas you were supposed to get.
Seems like they put a limit on it in the computer system – from corporate or something – and didn’t bother to tell the stores! I’m totally fine with limits, but to add one in the middle of the week and not let anyone know is frustrating. They could at least put up signs in the stores.
I heard that the rice a roni was giving a 5.00 cat as well except for mexican rice. If anyone trys it let me know. Thanks!
