What To Make With What’s On Sale: Ground Lamb

It’s time for What To Make With What’s On Sale! Sprouts has ground meat on sale for 40% off this week, and that includes ground lamb.

Lamb has a distinct, slightly sweet flavor that goes well with Mediterranean or middle Eastern spices. If you’ve never cooked with ground lamb and are hesitant, try it out by replacing half of the ground beef in recipes such as meatloaf or burgers for a more interesting flavor. Here are five recipe ideas for using ground lamb!

When I buy ground lamb, I always use some of it to make these Grilled Lamb Burgers. They can be served as-is like the recipe suggests, or as a filling for pita bread. I’ve also formed the mixture into meatballs, baked them, and served them on a Greek salad.

This White Bean and Lamb Soup looks like a perfect dish for a snowy day! I would suggest simply adding the spinach to the soup at the end of the cooking time, rather than cooking it separately — save yourself a pot to wash!

Giada de Laurentiis’ Lamb Ragu with Mint looks simple but tasty. Mint is a perfect complement to the flavor of lamb. (One reviewer mentioned that this dish freezes well!)

This Moroccan Meat Loaf recipe calls for part ground lamb and part ground beef, and it’s full of chopped veggies and aromatic spices. I’m sure this is a dish that makes your home smell wonderful while it’s baking!
