I know you must be missing the play-by-play of my life but the truth is that I can’t think of a single thing to write about so that’s why I haven’t updated since January 31st!
I must confess that I so related to this going-to-the-dentist story from Kate at The Small Things Blog. Only for me, it was ahem, more than six years. Other than that, the story is pretty much identical, right down to the zero cavities. (My mom says that will catch up to me when I get old.) OK, so now that I’ve sort of confessed, surely there are other people out there who don’t exactly get a cleaning every six months.
In an effort to save a bit on business expenses and perhaps get better performance, I spent part of the weekend moving SpringsBargains.com to a new host. I don’t know why I torture myself like that; moving to a new host never goes seamlessly! (I’ll admit the issue could be me. My “try this and try that until it works” method of learning things doesn’t work so well when you are talking about web hosting.) Something went wrong on Saturday night so when I woke up in the wee hours of the morning on Sunday, I couldn’t go back to sleep and decided to attack the problem at 2 AM. The whole experience brought back horrible memories of when I tech problems all the time a couple of years ago and was constantly stressed because I’d broken this or that or something else had gone wrong. It was an awful time in my life and maybe I’ll write about it sometime. Anyway, all’s well now. :)
Speaking of sleep, I’m still working on my sleep-through-the-night goal. It’s been interrupted by baby getting six teeth in 3-4 weeks and some digestive issues, and now it’s even more complicated because I’ve been having trouble going back to sleep after a kid wakes me up. I’m thinking maybe I’m just getting old, and if that is really the reason, man am I glad that God gave me babies when I’m young!
See? Told you I had nothing to say. ;)

Reading your post reminded me about an article I read about a year ago about ambesol. It has been related to sudden death syndrome in babies. This really shocked me that there could be a major correlation and they havent taken it off the market. That can be a difficult time for the parents, not getting sleep and everything but conventional medicines can be devastating.. Clove oil is a much better natural application for tooth pain if anyone needs it.
Melatonin is also good to get a sleep cycle back on track. There are supplements and also it is nturally occurring in certain foods like cherries. Eating something like blended frozen bananas with blended cherries is a good snack before bed for that. I got a huge bag of frozen cherries at costco for about 8.00 a while back – that is a great investment and is good for breaking down uric acid crystals that cause arthritis pain.
That is great about your teeth. A person can actually grow back their enamel by eating raw collar greens and kale and maintaining an alkaline system. I never ate raw greens like that until a couple years ago. I like using collard greens as a wrap with coleslaw, asian dressing, oranges and cashews inside (or tahini). And massaging kale with your hands with toasted sesame oil or avocado makes it easier to eat raw. Add pumpkin seeds and dried crancherries for a nice combo. The zinc in pumpkin seeds can keep a person from getting a sore throat as well.
If I continue having issues going back to sleep I may need to look at some supplements – thanks for the info!
As far as the sleep issue, it took me a loooong time to be able to sleep decently after my daughter started sleeping through the night again. I was always worried about when/if she’d wake up. Another thing that keeps me from getting decent sleep? Not eating enough during the day. I can’t sleep well if I’m hungry!
I am a go to the Dentist every 6 months religiously person. (But I also have lots of cavities. That seems backwards to me…..) It helps that my current Dentist rocks. If you are in the market for one, check out http://www.silverstonedental.com/Home.html the entire staff is great. Seriously. I always end up being there longer than I should because I love to chat with all of them. And if you make an appointment, tell them I sent you (Sharon Wang). And, Dr. Nielsen is trustworthy. No doing work that doesn’t need to be done.
