Walmart: Even Better Deal On Kingsford Charcoal Than Lowe’s!

Well, so much for the hot hot hot deal on charcoal at Lowe’s – it’s actually cheaper at Walmart! Erin said you can get two 15-pound bags for $5.48. At Lowe’s it’s $9.99 for 40 total pounds and I’m too lazy to do the per-pound math but it’s clearly cheaper at Walmart. ;) Either way, this is one of the best times of year to buy charcoal!

Home Depot hasn’t posted a new Memorial Day ad yet but they usually have a deal comparable to the one at Lowe’s on Memorial Day weekend.

PS – if you head to Walmart and happen to note the price of milk, be sure to update the Milk Price Tracker!

No Coupon Inserts On Memorial Day Weekend

Just a heads up: since it’s Memorial Day weekend, there won’t be any coupon inserts. (And this time, I’m actually all caught up on my clipping and filing so I can enjoy the weekend “off” of clipping. Such a stressful job couponing is. ;)

If you only subscribe to the paper for the coupons or have multiple subscriptions, you may want to put them on hold. If you do have multiple subscriptions, it’s usually best to call versus trying to do it online.

Safeway Weekly: $0.99 Heinz Ketchup + Great Deals On Chinet, Welch’s Juice, And More

There’s some great deals at Safeway this week! I am kicking myself for buying Chinet plates last week – I’m losing my mojo on “wait to buy it until it reaches the lowest possible price”. This week, the large packs of plates are on sale for $4.49 and there was a $0.55/1 coupon in Sunday’s paper, making them just $3.49 after coupons! We rarely use paper plates but my family will be visiting this weekend so I decided to buy some rather than have to do some major dishes after every meal.

Also, at Starbucks locations inside Safeway stores, you can get a $2 Grande Frappuccino after 2 PM through May 28th!

Safeway, King Soopers: Earn 4X Fuel Points For Buying Gift Cards

Just a heads up that Safeway and King Soopers are both doing bonus fuel points when you buy gift cards! You’ll earn quadruple points for every dollar you spend on (most) gift cards. Also, Safeway has an in-ad coupon for double fuel points on your regular grocery purchase, too (must use the coupon for that one).

For example, at King Soopers this means that for every $1 you buy in gift cards, you earn four fuel points instead of just one. So, if you were to buy $100 in gift cards, you’d earn $400 points, which translates to $0.40 off per gallon of gas!

While it’s not a huge, amazing, incredible savings, when we have a big home improvement project coming up, I like to buy Lowe’s gift cards for as much as we plan to spend at King Soopers, especially if they’re doing quadruple fuel points. I figure if I get a $200 Lowe’s gift card and earn $0.80 off per gallon and fill my tank with at least 15 gallons, it’s a $12 or more savings that there would be no way to get otherwise.

I also like that you can use coupons at Lowe’s when you are paying with a gift card, too, so you can kind of double up on the savings that way. They also have gift cards for Home Depot, Target, and Amazon, among lots others.

Great daels at Albertsons this week, even if they aren’t doubling coupons. (Did I just miss it? They often double on holiday weekends but I totally don’t see it advertised this time.) You can get Propel fitness water for $0.50 (no coupon required), Coke 12-packs for $2.50, Tabasco for $0.40, plus more great deals on Sweet Baby Ray’s, French’s Worcestershire, and more!

Whole Foods: One-Day Sale On Organic Raspberries + Santa Cruz Organic Lemonade For $1

Colorado Whole Foods stores will have organic raspberries (6 oz) on sale for $2.50 on Wednesday, May 23rd. This is not as low as I’ve seen them – sometimes, when King Soopers does a sale with raspberries for $1.00, organic will be included – but it’s probably one of the cheapest prices you can get right now.

I just glanced at their ad and they have Santa Cruz organic lemonades (32 oz) on sale for $1.00 through next Tuesday, May 29th! That’s about as low as they go, and is cheaper than they are at King Soopers.

They also have some pretty good prices on Stubb’s BBQ sauce and Sweet Leaf single-serve tea.

The Thrifty Couple has done a great roundup of diaper prices again this week – Huggies Little Swimmers are $3.49 after coupons this week at Walgreens (even cheaper than they were last week – crazy!), and Pampers jumbo packs are $6.50 after coupons at Target.

Last week, a reader mentioned that some pools don’t like the disposable swim diapers because something in them clogs their filters or pumps or something. So, you may want to check to see what your pool’s rules are regarding them before stocking up! You can buy reusable swim diapers various places (basically like tight-fitting underwear) if your pool doesn’t like the disposables.

King Soopers: New Comforts For Baby Rewards Program (Invitation Only)

Have you gotten a catalina that looks like the one below? If not, be on the lookout for one – it’s an invitation to participatin in a new rewards program for the Comforts For Baby brand!

The program is by invitation only, so you will need make sure that you have personally received one of the ads in order to participate. (My guess is that people who have purchased diapers or Comforts brand products in the past will probably be invited.)

Here’s how it works:

Earn a coupon for $3 off your next order every time you purchase $10 worth of Comforts for Baby products using the same Sooper Card through 10/6/12.

Purchases can be made over multiple trips.

Only one reward will be issued per transaction

Limit 15 rewards per participant.

The Comforts for Baby isn’t my favorite off-brand, but I may be buying some with this promotion! If you happen to be brand-loyal to Huggies, you might be interested in this Buy $20, Save $5 catalina that’s going on at King Soopers.

Whole Foods will have their pre-made burgers on sale for $1 each on Friday, May 18th! There’s a limit of 20 per person, and unfortunately, I’m not sure what size or fat percentage they are (I was told it varies by location). Seems like a pretty good deal for antibiotic/hormone free burgers, though!

You-Pick Rhubarb Event Is Coming Up

High Altitude Rhubarb Farm in Black Forest is having their annual you-pick day in June! You can pick as much as you want on June 2nd and 3rd and it’s cheap: organic rhubarb for $3.00/lb for the first ten pounds, and $2.50/lb for everything you pick past ten pounds.

They have seven different varieties of fresh rhubarb, plus rhubarb and horseradish roots, local honey, and more! Some of you went to this event last year and said it was a lot of fun, so don’t miss it if you’re a rhubarb fan.

High Altitude Rhubarb Farm is located at 7225 Wildridge Road in Black Forest and you can find out more on their website. If you’re headed that way, you should stop by R&R Coffee Cafe and get a Tin Cup Cowboy – the best coffee + chocolate drink you’ll ever have. (I like it blended.)
