Events & Entertainment
The Butterfly Pavilion in Westminster offers several days where admission is $5 (a savings of $3 for kids and $7 for adults) and there’s one coming up this Saturday, August 18th!
Check out their discounts and promotions page for more discount days and ways to save, including $1 admission on your birthday and $5 admission for military on select holidays.
Cheyenne Mountain Zoo’s annual Teddy Bear Day is coming up on Saturday, August 18th, and children who bring in their stuffed animal to the zoo will receive a discounted admission price of $9.75 ($10 off the summer weekend admission price)! Children aged 2 and under will be admitted for 75¢, and regular admission of $24.75 applies to those aged 12 and up.
Your child’s stuffed animal can get a free “medical checkup” at Moose Lodge on this special day. Check out the zoo’s website for complete details.
The Denver Zoo is offering a special deal on hot days in August: when the 10 PM forecast on Denver channel 7 is for over 90º, the Denver Zoo will offer $1 off admission for every degree the forecast is above 90º! So if the forecast is for 96º, they’ll take $6 off regular admission. They’ll also offer membership discounts and food deals on those days – check out the full details on Denver7’s website.
Sign up for The Summit’s email list and near your birthday, they’ll send you a coupon for a free hour of bowling for up to six people! It’s valid for two weeks so you have plenty of time to use it.
During the month of August, Colorado Parks and Wildlife will be offering active duty and retired military free admission to Colorado’s state parks! You must show a military ID at a Colorado Parks and Wildlife or state park office (so I’m inferring this means that you can’t do the self-pay stations that some parks have). Get the complete info on the military benefits page of CPW website.
Coming up, everyone – not just military – can also get free admission to Colorado’s state parks on August 6th.
David Cook, the owner of Gather Food cooking school in Old Colorado City, emailed me to let me know that they offer a free cookbook exchange, cooking demos, and free knife sharpening at their studio on select Saturdays! (The knife sharpening is what caught my eye – I’ve been meaning to have mine professionally sharpened for forever!)
You can read about the various events on their website. Gather Food Studio is located at 2015 W. Colorado Ave.
The Pikes Peak Jazz and Swing Society will be presenting a number of free concerts this summer in locations such as Bear Creek Regional Park and Fountain Creek Regional Park! Check out their full schedule of concerts on their website.
