Have you purchase an Entertainment Book this year? I know some people swear by the discounts, saying they’re the greatest thing ever, so I did some looking online at what’s available in Colorado Springs. I think if you eat out a fair amount, there are some nice coupons! Here’s a few that I spotted:
Restaurants
Omelette Parlor: buy one entree, get one free
Leon Gessi Pizza: 50% off any 1 pizza
TGIFriday’s: $5 off $15 purchase
CiCi’s Pizza: free adult buffet with purchase of adult buffet + 2 drinks
Firehouse Southern Style BBQ: buy one entree, get one free
Briarhurst Manor Estate: buy one entree, get one free
R&R Coffee Cafe: 50% off any beverage (psst – read my review of R&R!)
Attractions
The Castle At Glen Eyrie: buy one tour, get one free
Pueblo Zoo: buy one, get one free
Adventure Miniature Golf: buy one, get one free
ProRodeo Hall of Fame: buy one, get one free
Many of the restaurant offers are Buy 1 Entree, Get 1 Free, which would be really nice if you’re able to go out on a date night regularly! There are coupons for retail, too, but it didn’t seem like there were quite as many of those, and they weren’t as good of a discount.
It also says there is a coupon for $5 off your $50 purchase at Safeway – there may be multiple of those coupons, I believe there usually are. (If you know, please share!) I know Albertsons should accept that as a competitor’s coupon, and King Soopers may if you ask nicely!
Overall, I’m not sure the $28 book would be worth it for our family, since we try not to eat out much. There are a ton of great deals to be had from restaurant e-clubs and Restaurant.com, but the Entertainment Book does have more options for local restaurants.
Are you an Entertainment Book family? What are your favorite coupons to use from it?

My kids were selling these for school and I almost bought one, but decided against it. Many of the restaurant coupons were specific to a certain one (like they had Subway coupons for a specific Subway in Pueblo). We don’t eat out very much and I felt like I would end up spending more money just to justify using the coupons! Also, the $5 off $50 for Safeway was tempting (and there were 4 or 5 of those coupons), but since I usually just shop the loss leaders, I rarely spend more than $50 there – and that is probably the amount you have to spend after coupons. So, no book for me – even though my kids were so sure I would LOVE it, because it was a book of coupons, and they see me getting excited about coupons a lot!
That’s a good point, Amanda…. Definitely check out the specific locations on the coupons, because they may not be for parts of town you’re in often!
The buy one get one free pizza from Boriellos Bros ($17 value) and the buy one get one for the North Pole make it worth it for us and then everything else is just a bonus, like buy one get one free at Wahoos, etc, bowling coupons for Mr. Biggs etc. I think they are way worth it.
The Entertainment and Gold C books do have 4 of the Safeway $5/$50 coupons and King Soopers (at least Stetson Hills and Briargate Parkway stores) take them. There is one for each quarter of the year. The Gold C books are only $10, so I figure if I spend $10 and save $20 on the Safeway offers alone, I’m coming out ahead. The Gold C is mostly food whereas the Entertainment has lots of travel offers for all over the country and online offers for merchants, but I can usually find a coupon code without having the Entertainment and if we travel we have other ways of finding good deals.
A better deal is the “Gold C” book, made by the same folks as the Entertainment book, but only $10 from my kids’ school. It it still has the 4 coupons for $5 off $50 at Safeway, which makes up for the cost.
I bought the Entertainment book last year from a friends son. I will not buy another one…it just wasn’t worth it for me. And like someone else said, there are some coupons specifically for Pueblo. I didn’t realize this until I tried to use a Subway coupon recently!
We don’t buy them, because we don’t eat out much, and frankly, we don’t do other stuff much either – we’re busy with the hobby farm! However…I do see discounts on them at walgreens sometimes – coupons in their ads…and I think it’s on ‘inbox dollars’ that you can get a discount too.
I love the Entertainment books, have bought them for years, almost every where we have lived. I also buy one if we are vacationing some where more than for a week. I am an active duty single mom to 3 teens and one grown married daughter. With all of us, the book really gets used. We always use the Sky Sox coupons. I also trade coupons with my co-workers for our favorites. I do not have a bunch of free time to hunt down a bunch of other deals, the Entertainment book is concise.
I like the idea that the money goes to some sort of charity/fundraiser. I support just about everyone’s kids’ fundraisers because I know what it is like to raise 4 active kids involved in activities. I find the Entertainment book well worth the cost compared to over priced (usually poor quality) popcorn, cookies, Christmas wrap, etc.
The Safeway coupons are good at both Albertson’s and King’s Sooper’s. I’ve been doing this for years (8 or 9) and never once had a problem. Combine this with just one of two other coupons (like mentioned above) or the great ski coupons (Monarch!) and the book more than pays for itself. I’ve often used the hotel codes for booking rooms in Salida and on road trips to Alabama and have gotten better than the internet rates etc. I am completely sold that these books are the deal of the century. I actually buy 2 each year!!
In my family we ski/snowboard and I get my moneys worth out of the entertainment book by using just one coupon for Loveland or Arapaho Basin. I have been looking for ski deals for the past decade in Colorado and the deals in the entertainment book far beat the discounted tickets at rental places or grocery stores. This book saves our family tons on entertainment, but not a ton on eating out since we don’t do that very often. All the coupons for eating out are just a bonus for us. But I do always end up using the $5 off $50 coupons as well.
We buy a Gold C and Entertainment book every year and think that they are very worth it!! We always use the $5 off $50 purchase coupons at King Soopers and then we usually use the North Pole or Cheyenne Mountain zoo coupons, a few restaurant coupons (for date nights with my husband or “dates” with my children). Some years we use it more than others but we always make our money back and then some (and you’re buying the books for a good cause).
