Super Savings Saturday: my King Soopers mega Mega Event shopping trip

by Carrie Isaac on January 30, 2010

Here’s my King Soopers mega Mega Event shopping trip.  I almost never spend this much money in one transaction!  Let me tell you, it was scary to see the total before instant discounts and coupons.

So, I paid $91.85 and saved 63%.  My total without coupons and discounts would have been about $248.71!  I feel like I did pretty good even if I did spend almost $100…  There were more than one or two impulse purchases in there, or things I bought because we just needed them.

Our cupboards are starting to look full again after the Eat From The Pantry Challenge!

I’m not done with the Mega Event yet – still have a couple of coupons to use, and things to buy for the Kraft Back To School Rebate (unfortunately not available online anymore, it was a booklet you had to request last fall).  And, I’ll also be submitting two SC Johnson rebates (PDF link) for a total of $10 back.

I also spent about $21 at Sunflower Market on produce this week, and need to buy some more groceries before I leave for the BlissDom blogging conference next week so my husband and kids have something to eat!

So, even if $91 was a lot to spend for me, I’d say I got a lot of food for the money!  Here’s the scoop on the King Soopers Mega Event deals.

How are you doing 3 rebates on the same receipt? Or did you have them do separate orders. I also planned to do the SC Johnson and Kraft rebates from my King Soopers purchases yesterday.

Uuuuuuh… Good point! I guess I won’t be able to do both rebates with one receipt, huh? DUH. :)

Make a copy of the receipt I am sure they will accept that.

Unfortunately, almost all rebates state that an original receipt is required. :(

I called the SC Johnson number to explain that I had a Kraft rebate and 2 SC Johnson rebates on the same receipt. The lady told me that a copy was fine, and that I could submit two SC Johnson’s at one time. She said that they have ‘relaxed’ the original receipt, separate orders rule, due to the fact that they understand that many people were in my situation. Hope this helps.

You did great, Carrie! I didn’t get nearly as many things at K.S., but I only spent $2.07 – woo hoo! And then, I spent $2 for ‘newton’ type cookies at the dollar store, which is kinda funny to me. I have pics and everything up at my blog.

By the way, I did the same thing with the glade rebates a while back. I’ve sent two of them in (each with 4 items on them) but I need one more glade item to do the final one. It happens! :)

So nice to see blogs sharing the deals in our area… I am in Aurora, CO and shop a lot in Safeway, Alberstons, KS, Walmart and Targe… I’m still new to this and need to get way better. Thanks for sharing all these tips!

Love this event! Have made two trips to KS so far. First trip I purchased $107 for $ 50 (53% savings) and next trip purchased $37 for $10 (72% savings). Used tons of coupons and got a $4 catalina for 6 pillsbury items used on the second trip. Got a few impulse items and some things I don’t normally use, but figured I could work them into future meals for the savings.

I just got back and spend $105 and saved $117! 52% I was so happy ;) Bought about 51 items from the mega sale and had coupons for almost everything. My cupboard, fridge and freezer are packed :) Gonna try to print some more capri sun coupons with our other laptops and the BOGO Sobe to make another trip this week.

Kristina, it was linked to in the original post, I think – it’s a Kraft coupon site.

I got them from the Kraft Super Valu site, It was linked to by Hip2save.com, if you go to her page under coupons and look for her post on the Kraft Super Bowl coupons, it will link there. It was $1/2 and you could print twice. So I got them for .87 each! Wooohooo
