summer concerts 2018
The annual Woodland Music Series continues this summer in Woodland Park, with seven free concerts taking place on select Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings in June, July, August, and September. The lineup of artists is on their website, along with the location of each concert (some are at Ute Cultural Center and some are at Midland Park).
Colorado Springs City Auditorium is again doing Summer Sacklunch Serenades this year: watch a silent film, accompanied by the music of the1927 Wurlitzer theater pipe organ at noon on Thursdays from May through August. You can bring your own lunch to this event (in the past, they’ve had specials that you could purchase for $5 as well).
See the full schedule and get more info here – click on the links for the monthly calendar to get information. The City Auditorium is located at 221 E. Kiowa Street and you can call (719) 385-5969 for more information.
The Friends of Monument Valley Park organization will present free outdoor concerts on three Monday evenings in July! Bring your own chairs or blankets and a picnic, or they’ll also have food trucks on site. Get the lineup of artists here. According to the Convention and Visitors Bureau, the concerts will be held at Monument and Mesa Streets, or as the concert organizer describes it, the lawn west of the Fine Arts Center.
The Colorado Springs Philharmonic will be doing two free concerts this summer: their annual free concert at Memorial Park on the 4th of July and the Symphony Above the Clouds on July 5th in Woodland Park. For times and additional events that will be held in conjunction with the concerts, visit their website.
Did you know that kids can also get free tickets to regular philharmonic performances?
There will be an orchestra concert designed for children at Colorado College on June 14th during their Summer Music Festival:
The Festival Orchestra will present Prokofiev’s “Peter and the Wolf.” This interactive event is not only a performance (replete with costumes!), it’s an introduction to instrumentation for our youngest fans, some of whom will have the chance to try their hand at conducting the orchestra. This annual event always fills Celeste Theatre, so inquire about tickets early.
The Manitou Springs Library will be hosting a series of free outdoor summer concerts on select evenings in June, July, and August. There are a lot of different concerts in this series this year! You can find the artists that will be performing here. Note that there are different start times for some of the concerts.
Manitou Springs will also hold their annual ice cream social and pie baking contest on the same night as a concert (July 2) – you can read more about that here. I haven’t been to this event but always thought it sounded like so much fun!
Concerts in the Park returns to Limbach Park in Monument starting Wednesday, June 6th! There will be free concerts at the band stand from 7 to 9 PM on Wednesdays through August 1st (excluding July 4th). Bring your own chairs and blankets. The 2018 lineup of artists and more information can be seen here.
The address for Limbach Park is 151 Front Street in Monument.
