I got my Diapers.com order last week, and decided to test out how their process for using paper manufacturer’s coupons works. I mailed my coupons on Monday, I think, and yesterday I got an email letting me know my coupons had been credited to my account!
I had a few questions that weren’t answered on their website, so I decided to call (24/7 customer service!) and ask a few questions for my own benefit and so I could share with you. Here’s what I found out:
Coupons are credited to your account and will come off when you purchase the applicable products. If you mail in coupons for $3 off two packages of Huggies diapers, your coupon should automatically come off when you place two packages of Huggies diapers in your cart.
You do not need to purchase any products in order to mail in coupons. If you’re preparing to place an order, mail your coupons off first, and then once they’re credited to your account, you can place your order and your coupons come off automatically! I originally thought that I had to purchase the products and then send in the coupons for credit, but you can actually do the coupons first so that they are applied to your first order.
The only question I had that the representative wasn’t able to give me an answer for is how they handle expiration dates. Diapers.com has to receive your coupons at least one week prior to the expiration date. The ones I submitted expired a month or two out, but in my Diapers.com account, it says the expiration date is 3/11/2011, one year from when they were “deposited” in my account.
So, I’m not sure when your coupons expire. According to what I see in my account, it seems they may give you up to one year to use them, but I’m not sure. I asked the representative to email me when she finds out the answer to the expiration date question, and I’ll let you know when she does!
Update: here’s the answer!
Don’t forget that you can save up to $24.97 at Diapers.com, first by using my referral code SPRINGSBAR to save $10 on your order, and then by submitting this rebate for $14.97 back by mail! Shipping is free on orders of $49 or more.
Here’s a few Diapers.com scenarios for Luvs, Huggies, and Pampers diapers. Totally cheaper than Sam’s or Costco!

Any coupon exchanges being organized? I have diaper coupons and others that I no longer need and I hate to just throw them in the recycle container but I don’t know any other couponers that could use them.
Yes, sometime somewhat soon.
Great! I need diapers but don’t use conventional cleaning or laundry products, glade or pull ups etc. (or pet coupons..) I would love to trade since I’m just recycling when they expire.
I’ll be watching for it.
I noticed on Diapers.com that they’re giving a free Parenting magazine subscription to first-time customers. I clicked on the link for more details, and saw that if you print the page and send it in with your name and address–they’ll give you a $14.95 rebate instead, if you prefer. The rebate is through Parenting magazine, so I assume you could use your coupons or special offers at Diapers.com, then mail in for the rebate! (Assuming you don’t want the magazine…)
I did the rebate with Parenting magazine. I was a little skeptical as it was unusual how you could pick the magazine or the cash. I just got my check, no trouble! Made for some awesome cheap diapers, delivered right to to my door!
I was skeptical too–glad to know it works!
We just found out that we’re unexpectedly expecting our first. If the coupons really do stay in your account for a year, should I start clipping now and sending in to use when the little one comes? Do any of these referral or rebate deals have an end date? I’m probably skipping way ahead of myself, but wherever we can save is great.
Also, I wanted to say thank you, Carrie, for all your great tips. If we were in this situation a year ago, I couldn’t have even considered leaving my full time job. Now we can make that choice without finances being an issue because I see that living on one income can be done with kids! Thanks.
Denise, I would DEFINITELY start clipping diaper coupons now, and then stocking up when you see them on sale. Sometimes Walgreens does deals where diapers are around $6 or less, and I would stock up in advance as you’re able.
Just make sure not to stockpile too many of one size or you’ll end up exchanging some. Do some looking online as to how many packages to plan to stockpile in each size – I know there are guides out there.
In my experience, my kids stay in size 3 for a looooong time, so I would feel comfortable buying lots of them, but not so much the newborns or size 1.
Or, if you have a big baby, your baby may not even need size newborn! My babies tend to be 7-8 lbs and always need newborns for a few weeks, but I’ve never had a super-fast grower, either. I know sometimes moms say their kids are in newborns the first week and then size twos on the second week, so it just varies.
And by the way, CONGRATS! Babies are such a blessing!
