You may have cooked so much for Christmas dinner that the thought of needing to cook again is very far off, but just in case you do, here’s the best deals that I’m seeing at Albertson’s this week:
Boneless, skinless chicken breast $1.88/lb – I’ve seen this as low as $1.67/lb, but in general, this is a great price and one I would stock up on. Chicken parmesan, anyone?
Pork Loin Roast (whole in the bag), buy 1 get 2 free with in-ad coupon, $4.99/lb -l I don’t buy pork roast enough to have a rock-bottom price floating around in my head, but follow closely because I think this is a good deal:
Say these roasts are about 2 lbs each, so $9.98 for one. You’d be able to buy one for $9.98, and get two more two pounders free, so in total you’d be paying $9.98 for 6 lbs of pork, or $1.66 per pound. Sounds pretty good to me, just make sure to get three roasts of close to equal size so you pay the least per pound.
Albertson’s brand ice cream $1.99 (limit 2) – a good price for ice cream even if it’s not name brand, plus the ad states that it’s for a 1.75 qt container which is .25 qt more than name brands these days.
Cherries $2.99/lb – not a rock-bottom price, I don’t think, but decent for off season cherries if they’re any good.
8 Piece Dark Fried Chicken $3.99 – not that I recommend you making a habit of eating fried chicken, but this is a good deal if you want to get out of cooking one night.
I think I’ll stop there… Obviously there’s lots more featured in the ad, but I’ve highlighted what I think are the very best deals for this week and for the Springs area grocery prices. I’ll try to explain more of my strategy in future posts.
