Another pretty good week at Safeway! The frozen food promotion from last week continues again this week, and they’re running a great cereal deal! I’m matching up these deals assuming the store you shop at doubles coupons. BTW, I just updated the Safeway FAQ with a couple more stores that corporate told me do or don’t double coupons.
Here we go…
Meat, Dairy, and Frozen:
- Whole Pork Shoulder Blade 88 ¢/lb
- Rancher’s Reserve Bone-In New York Strip Steak $4.99/lb – You know how you know you’re cheap frugal? You won’t buy bone-in meat because that means you have to pay for the weight of the bone which you can’t eat.
- Bone-in Pork Shoulder Country Style Ribs $1.49 – These typically go on sale at Albertsons for $1/lb, but still a decent price.
- Lucerne Gallon Milk $1.77 – Best price in town this week!
- DiGiorno Pizza $3.97 (in-ad coupon) – Use $1/1 to get for $2.97. This is a participating product in the buy $25 of participating frozen foods save $10 promo. The price that will count towards your $25 purchase should be the price after the in-ad coupon ($3.97).
- Breyer’s Ice Cream $2.99 – Another good price on a qualifier for the frozen foods promo.
- Buy any two Gorton’s and two Ore Ida products save $5 instantly – This deal was not in the ad but should be posted on the freezer doors by these products. It runs through 3/10 and works nicely with the frozen food promo. Ore Ida products count toward the promotion; Gorton’s do not. There are 55 ¢/1 insert coupons out for Gorton’s and you can print $1/3 from their website. Beware, I did this deal and it didn’t come off automatically like it was supposed to, though customer service fixed it for me.
- Save $2 on any Primo Taglio Meat or Cheese (in-ad coupon) – The ad shows pan roasted turkey breast for $4.99/lb, so if you get right at a pound and use the coupon, it would be $2.99. Amazing price for meat from the deli.
Produce:
- 8 lb Bag Sweet Navel Oranges $3.88 – 48 ¢ per lb is a good price for me!
- Romaine, Red Leaf, or Green Leaf Lettuce 99 ¢ – Rock bottom price.
General Grocery and Household:
- Buy 5 save $5 Cereal Sale: Best deal I see so far is to buy five boxes of Corn Flakes @ $1.99 each, use five 70 ¢/1 Kellogg’s cereal coupons, and get them free after the $5 discount. You could do the same with Quaker Oatmeal Squares – they’re $1.99 and you could use five 50 ¢/1 coupons to get free after the $5 discount. Of course you can mix and match if you don’t have five of those coupons. Definitely some good deals to get on cereal, but keep in mind that unless you’re trying to buy super fancy organic cereal, you probably shouldn’t pay more than 75 ¢ a box – I shoot for free or 50 ¢. There are TONS of participating cereals, just check the tags in-store.
- Another note on the cereal sale: [Please do not read any farther if you’re already confused by the above paragraph! ;)] I’m hearing from the AFC forums that there may be a catalina for $4 off your next order when you buy four Post Raisin Bran cereals. Would be awesome combined with the $5 instant savings, but I haven’t tried it yet so I can’t confirm it’s working.
- Nabisco Oreo Cookies $1.29 (in-ad coupon)
- Classico Pasta Sauce 97 ¢ (in-ad coupon) – A good price for this brand.
- Knorr Lipton Sides 88 ¢ (in-ad coupon) – Use 50 ¢/2 to get two for 38 ¢ each.
- Tostitoes $1.77 (in-ad coupon)
- Simply Juice $1.99 (in-ad coupon) – Combine with 55 ¢/1 to get these for 99 ¢.
- Celestial Seasonings Tea $2 – Use $1/1 to get for $1 each. This was free at King Soopers a few months ago, but haven’t seen that sale again yet.
- Softsoap Liquid Hand Soap 99 ¢ – Wait to buy this until we get a coupon for 35 ¢/1. There will be one soon, trust me!
