Super Savings Saturday at Safeway

Published March 21, 2009 by Carrie in Grocery Deals

safeway-deals-march-18-2009
I promised I’d break down my great Safeway trip for this week, so here goes!   The items in orange are the ones I purchased for the Buy 10 save $5 promo.   (Prices are after the 50 ¢ per item discount for that promo.)

6 Rice a Roni @ 75 ¢ each = $7.50
1 Safeway tomato paste = $.59
3 American Beauty Fettuccine = $2.25
1 American Beauty Penne Rigate = $.75
2 Rosarita Refried Beans = $1.50

1 Cardini’s Caesar dressing = $3.89
1 R&F large shell pasta = $.75
3 Huggies baby wipes = $6.00
2 Halls Naturals cough drops = $1.50
4 Bertolli sauce pouches $6.00
1 Orowheat bread = $2.50

1 pkg chicken breasts = $10.35
3 Gorton’s fish fillets = $4.50
2 jalapenos = $.50
1 bunch cilantro = $.89
4 DelMonte Fruit Naturals = $3.00
Sales Tax = $1.20

Coupons and discounts:

Three $5 instant savings discount for buying 30 items = $15.00
Catalina coupon from last Chill Out At Home promotion = $10.00
Catalina coupon from Post cereal promotion = $4.00
Four $1 Bertolli coupons = $4.00
One 75 ¢ Huggies wipes coupon = $1.00
One $5 Huggies coupon = $5.00
One $2 Del Monte Fruit Naturals coupon = $2.00
One $1 Rice a Roni coupon = $1.00
Two 50 ¢ Halls Naturals coupons = $2.00
One 55 ¢ Orowheat coupon = $1.00

Uh… I had more coupons but now I can’t remember which ones they were!

Anyway, so before coupons and the instant savings from the Buy 10 Save $5 promo, my total was $69.92.   After the promotions and coupons, I paid $21.67!   This week was super great because I had the $10 coupon from the last Chill Out At Home promotion I did, as well as the $4 coupon from a Post cereal promotion.   That’s $14 worth of savings a lot of you won’t be able to use, but even if you didn’t have that and paid $35.67 for all of the above, that’s still pretty good!

Phew, I’m hoping to head to Safeway again tomorrow to pick up a few more of the really great deals.   Please pardon if my math doesn’t completely add up.     I swore to never do anymore math after highschool, so just take my word that I paid $21.67 even if I’m a few cents off. ;)

I’d love to help you learn how to do it, too – have you heard about the workshop on April 4th yet?

Happy Super Savings Saturday!
