If you’re saving money by being a tourist in our own beautiful city this summer, you save even more money by using the coupons for several area attractions! They’ve got coupons for just about all of the area’s attractions, including Cave of the Winds, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, Flying W Ranch, Garden of the Gods Trading Post, Manitou Cliff Dwellings, Pikes Peak, Royal Gorge Bridge and Park, and Seven Falls, among several others. Thanks, Sheila!
Another way to save money is to purchase a National Parks Pass. It’s $80 (up to four adults + as many people under 16 as you want!) and gets you into all of the federal recreation sites that charge a fee for a year. It’s a good way to save, as long as you’re going to visit enough places within the timespan of a year. We bought one last year and hit the Great Sand Dunes, Rocky Mountain National Park, Black Canyon of the Gunnison, and Mesa Verde National Park. I love that Colorado Springs is within driving distance of all of those places!
(If you’re 62+, you can get the pass for just 10 bucks and it’s still good for up to four adults and unlimited kids!)
If you’re new here, you should know that the Pikes Peak toll road is owned by the city of Colorado Springs and a National Parks pass does not cover the toll. Garden of the Gods is a city park, and it’s free at the request of the person who gave the land to the city! Also, Four Corners Monument is a Navajo Nation Park and is not free with the National Parks pass.
Happy Memorial Day, everyone! I’ll be back on Tuesday with a boatload of great deals.
