There are two main criteria I use when deciding what deals to post here: one, it has to be a good deal, and two, it has to be relevant to a good number of people. That’s why I don’t post sales like buy-one-get-one-25%-off at the Store That Sells Shoes In One Size Only and Is Only Open Four Hours Per Week (That was made up, if you can’t tell!). That’s not a deal, and it would only be relevant to maybe two of my readers, so I generally skip over those.
But, this is a business I can recommend as a good deal for just about all of you: my husband, Jeremy, and I stayed at Mountain View Bed and Breakfast last weekend. It’s located right off of Highway 83, just north of North Gate Road and on the edge of the Black Forest (14755 Kaessner Lane). I’d been looking for a bed and breakfast to stay at for a getaway that I could also review here, but they are pretty pricey – it’s hard to find one that’s under $100, and that just isn’t in my budget, and I’m guessing it’s the same for a lot of you. I suppose I could have gotten a room at a Hampton Inn for less than that, but that’s just not my idea of a relaxing getaway!
A Twitter friend referred me to Mountain View, and when I went to their website it spoke to my frugal heart! The room we stayed in was “The View” – it had a queen bed, and it’s just $50 a night. It had great views of Cheyenne Mountain and the gorgeous Colorado Springs city lights! There’s another room downstairs with a king bed and a hide-a-bed, so it could sleep four if needed ($55).
You can stay in a room with a double bed for $40, and they’ve got a room with a single for $35. And of course, the rates include a full breakfast in the morning! Just enjoy it and don’t ask Ginger how much fat is in the bacon. ;)
Another great thing about Mountain View is that they are kid-friendly. They’ve even got a great playground! We were able to leave our 4 year old and almost two-year-old at the grandparents’, but since the baby is nursing she needed to come with us, and a lot of bed and breakfasts would not allow that.
By the way, there’s more pics over on Facebook.
Ginger and Tony were very gracious hosts and totally made sure we had everything we needed. Ginger’s been in the hospitality business for years and knows how to make people comfortable.
If you want a getaway that won’t break the bank, I would totally encourage you to talk to Tony and Ginger about reserving a night! More information is on their website, and you can call them at 719.495.2683 to check availability. Tell them you heard about them from SpringsBargains, and if you stay a night, I’d love to hear what you think!
Disclosure: I solicited and received one night free at Mountain View Bed and Breakfast in exchange for this unbiased review.
