You guys asked – a lot – and I’m listening! I’m debuting some new features this week, ones that you requested and a few I’ve been working on for awhile now. There is still much more coming, and later this week I’ll be responding to the most popular requests you guys gave me on this post.
First off – you can now print posts! As you can see in the above graphic, now you can click the “print this post” button and a printable, no-graphics version will pop up and you’ll be able to print it. If you want, you can print a weekly grocery store deals post and take it with you to the store now!
Please note: this is something that I am still tweaking! If you do not see the “print” icon, just click on the post title, such as “Sunflower Market weekly deals”, and the post will open and the icon appear.
Now, let me direct your attention to the right sidebars. I’ve added a green box titled “Here’s more freebies, samples, and links you might find interesting!”
My goal for SpringsBargains is to give you the best local content anywhere. I do post samples and freebies from time to time, but try to focus on the local deals. But, I could quite literally post every half hour with a new free sample or magazine subscription, so I’ve added this feature so that when I come across something like that, I can add it to this widget.
I update this widget at all hours of the day, including weekends, so it’s something to check often. And as always, I’ll feature the best content in the main blog area of the site – but now there’s even more goodies to find throughout the day!
I’ll also be using it to link to various posts and articles of general frugality interest. Sometimes I’ll add a comment about the article – why I think you should read it, how it’s affected me, etc. It may become quite the smorgasboard of content, but hopefully you’ll find it interesting!
Then, also on the right sidebar, we now have a Posts by Categories area. Some of you wanted a way to find posts a little easier than scrolling through the entire site. This has actually been there all along – it was a dropdown menu, but it obviously wasn’t very visible because no one knew where it was! For now, you can see all the categories and click on each one to see all the posts in that particular category.
I’m also working to make a similar feature for tags, which are what I use to organize the posts by business – ie, posts about King Soopers are categorized in “Groceries”, and tagged as “King Soopers”. If there’s a deal at Old Navy, it’s categorized as “Clothing and Accessories” (or maybe “Clearance Alert”) and tagged as “Old Navy”.
As you can imagine, there are hundreds of tags that I use, so I can’t quite create a menu like this, but hopefully I’ll have a dropdown menu for tags soon.
All right, this post is super long already, so I’ll cut it off here. Again, I’ll be sharing how I’m going to implement some more of your requests later. Let me know what you think!
