Summer clearance at Dollar General

Published September 30, 2009 by Carrie in Uncategorized

Leah just emailed to let me know that Dollar General has marked their summer merchandise to 90% off!  She was able to snag sunscreen, pool toys, goggles and more for a big, big discount.

Anyone know if Dollar General takes coupons on clearance merchandise?  Might be able to score some free sunscreen.  Though at 90% off, it’s pretty close to free anyway, right?

Looks like there’s just two Dollar General stores in the Springs: 5690 S Highway 85-87 and 1785 S 8th Street Suite E.

Thanks, Leah!

You deserve a Frappuccino!

Published September 30, 2009 by Carrie in Expired

starbucks-logo

Ah, you guys are the best blog readers in the world and you all totally deserve a Frappuccino – especially if it’s free!  You can nominate a friend to receive a free Starbucks Frappuccino… Now, aren’t I your friend?! ;)  I honestly do not understand how this works – I couldn’t get the site to work earlier today – but it looks like you nominate a friend and then somehow they receive a coupon?  Or does someone else have to vote on whether or not they deserve a free coffee?

It’s confusing, and the information under “learn more” wasn’t very helpful, but hey, it’s worth a shot, right?!  Give it a try and let me know if you get it to work.

More free weekend events: harvest celebration and giant pumpkins

Published September 30, 2009 by Carrie in Expired

pumpkin patch at rock ledge ranch

Rock Ledge Ranch is celebrating the bounty of the season by opening up for free this Saturday from 10 AM to 3 PM!  You can visit the historic homestead, tour many of the buildings, and watch various demonstrations, all for free!  There are paid activities like the pumpkin patch or wagon rides, but you can totally go and still have fun without spending a dime!

Here’s some pictures we took last year the Rock Ledge Ranch’s Harvest Festival.

The Great Pumpkin Weigh-off is also this weekend in Old Colorado City.  It’s free, too.  If you go, don’t forget to take your camera so you can get your picture next to the huge pumpkins!

Don’t forget about the free weekend events in Denver, too!

Safeway weekly deals: September 30-October 6

Published September 30, 2009 by Carrie in Grocery Deals

CM Capture 2It’s a really slow week at Safeway.  I was planning to stop in for the 25¢ bread, but it requires a $10 minimum purchase and after looking at the ad I’m not sure I could find $10 worth of other deals that it would make it worth my trip.  Oh well!

Safeway has some printable coupons on their website, and most of them are the same as the ones at Coupons.com; however, sometimes they put up store coupons and I just checked and there’s quite a few up there that appear to be store coupons for medicines, soap, meat, and produce!  You should be able to combine a store coupon with a manufacturer’s coupon, so that could make for some sweet finds.

72 Hour Sale – Friday, Saturday, and Sunday Only

Safeway Thick Sliced Hickory Smoked Bacon $1.99/lb (sold in a 3 lb package)
Rating: 3

Scarlotta, Pristine, or Goolish Grapes $3.99 each (2 lb package)

Kellogg’s Raisin Bran or Froot Loops $1.49 (must buy 5 or more)
Use $2/2 insert coupon (“fiber” varieties only)
Pay 49¢ each at checkout if you have three coupons and buy six
Rating: 4

IBC Root Beer 6-packs $2.99
Rating: 3

Mission Tortilla Chips $2
Rating: 3

Colgate Toothpaste $1
Rating: 2

Big Sizes Big Savings Sale – buy two or more select large-size household products for $9.99 each
No specific sizes listed, so it’s hard to say what’s a good deal – however, you can usually get a better deal by combining coupons on smaller size packages rather than the “large size”.

See anything else on sale at Safeway? Here’s the entire ad.  Don’t forget to load your card with Cellfire, Shortcuts, and P&Gesaver e-coupons!  This weekly ad review is part of Be Centsable’s Grocery Gathering.

Rancho Liborio weekly deals: September 30-October 6

Published September 30, 2009 by Carrie in Grocery Deals

Rancho Liborio Colorado Springs

Here’s what’s happenin’ at Rancho Liborio this week!  If you’re starting to think about apple cider and cinnamon-y drinks, you should check out their bulk spice section.  You can buy cinnamon sticks for much, much cheaper than you’ll ever find in a jar!  I think I paid $7.99/lb for cinnamon sticks there last year, which sounds like a lot per pound, but they don’t weigh much.  If you want to give yourself a heart attack, figure out the price-per-pound of the spices you buy in jars at Walmart. :)
