If you’re like me, you clean out your expired coupons about once a month… or sometimes, it stretches to once every couple of months. And you’re left with a mini-mountain of expired coupons that end up going in the trash. (Jeremy doesn’t even like me putting them in the recycle bin because they fly all over the neighborhood on trash day!)
But, don’t throw them away just yet! Overseas military can use expired coupons at the commissaries for up to about six months past the expiration date, I believe! The Happy Housewife has a Coupons for Troops program that you can sign up for online – just complete this form and she’ll match you up to a military family that you can send your coupons to. I just read on her site that it doesn’t cost you any more money to send them to an overseas US military base than it does to mail them stateside – I had no idea!
So, if you’d like to put those expired coupons in the hands of someone that can use them, check out Coupons for Troops! I know there are other programs out there like this, so if you know of others, please feel free to leave a comment and share.
