Time for our weekly chat thread – last week we talked about warehouse club memberships; this week, feel free to chat about whatever’s on your mind! Please share your menus, requests for help, and questions that don’t fit anywhere else.
Hey, are any of you filling shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child this year? It’s an outreach by Samaritan’s Purse that serves to show Christ’s love by distributing gift boxes to children overseas who otherwise wouldn’t have much of anything. I think we’d like to do one or two, and I’m wondering what you usually put in yours. Here’s a list of accepted items. Where have you found is the best place to buy inexpensive toys?
We couponers ought to be able to put in some toiletries for pretty cheap, but I can’t afford to spend more than a few dollars on toys and want to get the most bang for my buck – and unfortunately, I haven’t planned ahead so I have nothing!
Also, I’m thinking ahead to all the food drives that usually happen in November and December, and some of the items I’m buying (or “buying”) at King Soopers Mega Event will be saved to donate to charity. Even if there are items you’ll never use yourself, consider buying them to donate to someone who will! There may even be chances to get free food at restaurants when you donate food – I know Qdoba did one last year, and Chick-Fil-A has before.
Anyway, join the chat with whatever scatterbrained thoughts you wish to share like I did above! :)
