Which newspaper has the best coupons?

Published November 15, 2009 by Carrie in Expired

no coupon inserts

Awesome blog reader Kerrie emailed me with a comparison on today’s coupons in the Denver Post and the Colorado Springs Gazette. I mention often that larger city newspapers have more/better coupons, and Kerrie went to the work of showing us it’s true! Here’s what she found:

Unique to Gazette – Red Plum

None

Here’s another comparison on a Sunday from last year.  Same story!

So why do I recommend subscribing to both the Denver Post and the Gazette? The Post has more/better coupons, and it includes the USA Today magazine insert, which sometimes has additional coupons. (The Gazette only gets Parade magazine, not USA Today). Today’s USA Today insert has some great coupons in it, including a Buy One Get One Free for select Hasbro card games.

However, the Gazette has all the local ads, the most important of which is Safeway’s ad, since if Safeway puts out a midweek ad, it usually includes in-ad coupons, and extras of those ads may or may not be available in store.
